SEC-S16-W1 | Cultural traditions

in Venezolanos Steem6 months ago (edited)
I am here to take part in the debut Steemit Engagement Challenge and am feeling great while posting two of our great traditions in the venezolanos Community's SEC-S16-W1 | Tradiciones cultures. My post is in answer to @tahispadron thanks for inviting me.

But trust me if I start writing about Indian traditional functions, I think I will have to write at least 5000 posts, and yet the story will not be completed. India is a country with diverse cultural beliefs and a population of over 1.4 billion living in different parts of the country.

As far as your question:

Have you ever participated in the organization of those traditions or do you identify with them?

My answer is yes, we Indians celebrate all festivals irrespective of culture, religion, casts or creed together so there is nothing that stops us from taking part in all these and having as much fun as possible. I,n fact the Indian culture is the true specimen of cultural diversity.

People of different religions and origins in our country celebrate different traditions. I will mention two of them, one followed by the majority community of India and the other by the home state. I invite my dear friends @senehasa and @viajarparasanar to show us their cultural events.

Holi

The Holi festival is mainly a festival of colors, and this day has special significance in Hinduism. Holi is celebrated for two days. Holika Dahan is celebrated on the first day, which is also called Chhoti Holi, and on the second day, this is a festival of colors in which people play colors together and celebrate happiness.

The trend of playing Holi with water balloons and water cannons has been going on for a long time. Previously, Holi was only a festival of the Hindu religion, but now it is celebrated as a festival all over the world.

Holi has a mythological history, but I will not go into that but tell you the importance of Holi, the festival of colors. Holi is mainly celebrated during the spring season, i.e., the time of the spring harvest, which also marks the end of winter and is celebrated for two days. Holi is a festival of colors and happiness. It is a major and famous festival in India that is now being celebrated all over the world.

This day symbolizes the victory of good over evil. People light a fire on this day and celebrate the triumph of devotee Prahlad's devotion to Lord Vishnu. On this day, people also worship Holika because, in Hindu mythology, it is believed that Holika puja brings prosperity and wealth to everyone's house. People believe that after performing Holika bonfire, they can overcome all kinds of fears. The day after Holika Dahan is called Dhulendi (Colors), in which dry and wet colors are poured and harmony is expressed with others.

Cultural significance of Holi

The celebration of various legends associated with Holi reassures people about the power of truth, as Holi helps people believe in the virtues of being truthful and honest and fighting evil. Furthermore, Holi is celebrated at a time of the year when fields are in full bloom and people expect a good harvest. It gives a good reason for people to rejoice, enjoy, and immerse themselves in the spirit of Holi.

My home state, Goa, is a center of attraction for tourists. Tourists visit Goa in every season. However, the month of February is considered the best month to visit Goa. The weather in Goa remains very pleasant this month. For this reason, the Goa Carnival Festival is also organized every year in February. The carnival for the year 2024 has just ended in this week.

The Goa Carnival Festival was organized in the four beautiful cities of Goa, Panjim, Mapusa, Margao, and Vasco. Complete preparations have been made for this. Panjim is the capital of Goa. If you ever attend the Goa Carnival in India, you will see that there is a festive atmosphere in Goa on this occasion. A unique spectacle of music and dance can be seen on the banks of the Mandovi River.

Viva Carnival Goa: Get lost in the fun of masks, entertainment, and parades; this is the basic mantra to celebrate Goa Carnival with enthusiasm. The fact is, the Goa Carnival reminds me of the Sydney Autumn Carnival.

The Portuguese started celebrating Carnival in Goa in the sixteenth century. Although Goa celebrates many carnivals in a year, like in December, the whole of Goa gets colored in the colors of the Christmas carnival. Similarly.

Goa celebrates the "Viva Carnival" in February. These days, the Christian community stays away from any kind of celebration for 40 days and does not consume meat or alcohol during this period. When the forty days are over, King Momo Jin is said to be related to the Greek god Momos, who is also said to be the god of humor. He comes out on the streets and orders his beloved public to celebrate, eat, and drink, and thus the four-day-long Viva Carnival begins in Panjim city and passes through different regional and urban areas.

People participate in this carnival parade with great enthusiasm. Big tableaux are decorated. This is a celebration of the people and their enthusiasm. People from small villages to big cities participate in this carnival.

The entire city is decorated like a bride for the carnival. Every road, every lane, every intersection, and every park gets decorated with colorful masks and fringes. In this carnival, while the youth are seen dancing and full of enthusiasm in different dance groups in the parade, the older people entertain everyone in different colorful forms.

In this carnival, some tableaux are seen spreading the essence of Portuguese culture, while others also give a glimpse of the pure rural culture of Goa.

The specialty of this carnival was that most of the tableaux were working to spread some message or another. Like freedom from terrorism, cashless transactions, saving nature, child abuse, etc.

Are these traditions used to promote tourism?

Yes for sure! There is no entry fee to participate in the Goa Carnival to promote tourism, and you can participate in the festival without paying any fee. But yes, the fee for Red and Black Dance is a paid function which costs only 4 STEEM per couple. You can participate in a dance program with your partner. A large number of tourists from all over the country and abroad come to participate in the Goa Carnival. On this occasion, you can also enjoy local food items with a unique flavor.

This carnival starts at 3 p.m. and continues until 6 p.m. Beautiful tableaux and dancers, one after the other, keep everyone engaged.

Starting from Panjim, this carnival passes through various villages and cities in Goa and reaches back to Panjim. The famous Red and Black Dance Night is organized on the fourth day, in which the youth celebrate the grand finale of this festival by dancing to the rhythm in special black and red colored clothes.

Estupendo reporte. Saludos cordiales.

Hello friend @dove11, Holi festival looks very interesting with so many colors, balloons and water cannons.

I would like to review what this meeting is like and how they celebrate it in commemoration of the arrival of spring.

Greetings and success.

I know that and have tried 6 times to edit that but there is a solid glitch in the site. But the good thing is that the beneficiary null account is proper so there is nothing to worry. As far my post, I appreciate your support and nice words.

Thank you so much for your good wishes. That's right we are the only country in the world with diverse cultures living here together with love and care.

Greetings @dove11, I hope you are doing well.

You have shared amazing festival traditions of your country India. First is Holi and second is Goa Carnival. Both of the traditions are from history and they are very important for community.

You have also mentioned that these festivals attract the foreign people and I have seen it in videos also. The Holi festival is celebrated with colorful colors, dance, and party. It is an interesting festival that connects people and make them relax.

Overall, you have presented uniqueness of India's rich cultural traditions. I wish you best of luck :)
