Friends are a tricky thing. No, I'm not talking about those 420 (plus or minus) registered Facebook users whose names are proudly displayed in the Friends list on your wall. It's about those with whom you drank soapy water, made mudballs and planned your escape from home with a certain number of years ago. You have exchanged locket halves and solemn vows that you will never part. Oaths that you have most likely broken more than once and will continue to break more and more persistently. Because that's what grown-ups do after drinking countless cups of fake walnut leaf coffee and having a dream encounter with at least five creepy creatures, including Lady Pika, Choki, and a few nameless aliens.

I'm talking about those friends who rarely comment on your Facebook photos, but have written memories in your painstakingly drawn scrapbook since elementary school. Who don't call you every week "just like that", but once knew your home phone number by heart. Who don't notice the new additions to your summer wardrobe, but keep somewhere your old sweater, forgotten at one of your sleepovers. And when I say they're a "complicated thing," I don't mean that friends are complicated to understand. Even on the contrary - it happened that you could understand them just from one look, from one "hello". You haven't even exchanged a whole sentence and you already know something is wrong. After the end of the second, you are already quite aware of how serious the situation is and whether just talking will help, or if more drastic measures are needed to deal with the situation.

You need a hand as strong as a stone and a heart as soft as cotton to provide the necessary conditions for the cultivation of friendship. And as overwhelming as this combination may seem, the facts show that it is not impossible to achieve. I'm sure because I already have several pets. I don't see them often. Some of them must have changed their hairstyles several times since we last met. I don't tell them I love them all the time. There were times when I even missed hearing from them about their birthday. But I never forget that they are there. Because, somehow, they always appear just in time to remind me that somewhere out there, beyond all the likes and comments, there are several pairs of hands ready to boldly lift my cup of real bitter coffee and drink to the bottom.
