We inherit cultural heritage. We observe our past behaviors so it is called cultural heritage. My country Bangladesh is a country full of cultural heritage. Today in this great event I will try to highlight the cultural traditions of my country which will give you an idea about the culture of a new country.
Cultural heritage is not a story of a day, it is our hard work to make a year and its result is this Bengali New Year. One of the biggest and officially celebrated cultural traditions of my country is "Bangla New Year" "Bangla New Year Mars Parade" "Baul Sangeet" "Aka Chitra in Dhaka Rickshaw".
The biggest cultural tradition of Bangladesh is Bengali New Year which is our Bengali year which is counted from the time of Emperor Akbar. Bengali Calendar Bengali months are calculated according to solar calendar. Bengali twelve month names "Baishakh, Jaishtya, Asadha, Shravan, Bhadra, Ashwin, Kartik, Agrahayana, Paush, Magha, Falgun, Chaitra". There are six seasons dividing these twelve months into two.
Now let's talk about New Year celebrations, New Year means inviting the new year and saying goodbye to the old year. The New Year is welcomed through various cultural events.
Mars Procession
First starts with Mangal Sobhayatra where "Come O Baisakh, Come Come" is the tune of Ramana Batmool. The main attraction of this Mars procession is that the journey starts with idols of various animals. Slogan of Mangal-Shobhayatra "May all past evils and sorrows be erased and a new dawn be heralded in the new year". In 2016, UNESCO declared Mangal-Bhoja Yatra as "Invaluable Cultural Heritage of Humanity".
New Years Food:
On that day we eat our Bengali food, the main attraction of which is panta hilsa with various types of bharta (dried fish bharta, potato bharta, sesame bharta, illis machee bharta, dry chillies and raw onions) and this food is eaten in a clay dish.
Fair:
On the occasion of New Year, a fair is held throughout the month of Baisakh where a variety of products (churi, garlands, pottery) and local food are available. In the fair, there are cartwheels, charki etc.
Bangladesh is a non-sectarian country where people of all religions can perform their religious activities beautifully. In terms of religious events, the two Eids for Muslims and Durga Puja for Hindus are organized with much fanfare in Bangladesh (though India's pujas are done with much grandeur).
Bowl Music
Baul music is a carrier of cultural heritage of Bangladesh. In this Baul song, the soil of Bengal and the life of people are questioned and the message of humanity is presented. We have a great history of Baul songs. In Bangladesh, Baul song became very popular through the song of Baul Sammat Lalon Sai. Apart from Lalan Sai, there were many other advocates of Baul songs. This song was sung by dotara.
