Renewing Our First Love

So for this month, I decided to study the book of revelation to remind myself what the Lord has there in store for me.

Today I wanted to remind us of something very crucial which we all know in the book of Revelation. We have been reading it, hearing it, and even singing it. Our First Love

Revelation 2:1-5

1KJV: Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh amid the seven golden candlesticks;
AMP: To the angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Ephesus write: These are the words of Him Who holds the seven stars [which are the messengers of the seven churches] in His right hand, Who goes about among the seven golden lampstands [ which are the seven churches]:

2KJV: I know thy works, and thy labor, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles and are not, and hast found them, liars:
AMP: I know your industry and activities, laborious toil and trouble, and your patient endurance, and how you cannot tolerate wicked [men] and have tested and critically appraised those who call [themselves] apostles (special messengers of Christ) and yet are not, and have found them to be impostors and liars.

3KJV: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast labored, and hast not fainted.
AMP: I know you are enduring patiently and are bearing up for My name’s sake, and you have not fainted or become exhausted or grown weary.

4KJV: Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee because thou hast left thy first love.
AMP: But I have this [one charge to make] against you: that you have left (abandoned) the love that you had at first [you have deserted Me, your first love].

5KJV: Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
AM P: Remember then from what heights you have fallen. Repent (change the inner man to meet God’s will) and do the works you did previously [when first you knew the Lord], or else I will visit you and remove your lampstand from its place unless you change your mind and repent.

Verse 4 precisely of the reading passage talks about first love and this was the message of God to the Ephesians.
Reminding them about their first love.

Most of us are also victims, we have forgotten or left our first love for God.
The time when nothing mattered to us other than pleasing God and living our days for him.
The days we do everything to seek his face, hear from him and keep constant fellowship with him.
Some of us have forgotten all about it and we are living our lives on our own now doing what pleasures us and our flesh.

Today this message is coming to us as a reminder to go back to our first love for God.
Let's all go back to the days when we were hungry and thirsty for God, thereby daily seeking his face.
Let's go back to when everything about us and concerning us was God and nothing else.
Let's all go back to that first love.
I pray that the good Lord grants us the grace to do this and may He only guide and direct our steps in Jesus' name Amen!
