THEME: FORGIVENESS OF OTHERS AS A NECESSARY CONDITION FOR OUR OWN FORGIVENESS:(23/02/2021)
Mt 6:7-15
Jesus said to his disciples:
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans,
who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
“This is how you are to pray:
“If you forgive men their transgressions,
your heavenly Father will forgive you.
But if you do not forgive men,
neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.”
“Our Father in heaven....your will be done."- Mt 6:9, 10
Reflection:
Jesus teaches us that authentic prayer does not consist of a multitude of words nor does it attempt to force God to act since God already knows what we need before we ask. Jesus says we are to call God "Father" because he is our Father in heaven whom we acknowledge as the source of our life & the generous provider of what we need in life. The Lord's prayer also teaches us that our first priority is to offer praise to God and seek to do His will. How do you pray?
Lord Jesus thank you for teaching me how to pray to our Father in heaven. Thank you for drawing me close to Him. May the prayer you have taught me lead me to live a life of prayer.
God bless you!
Can we really forget
