NECESSITY OF PRAYER 3

Text: “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.” Ephesians 1:18

We have an account in scripture that will clearly help us to understand this prayer of Apostle Paul. He wasn’t just praying for this people to have bread to eat; he was praying for them to have the bakery. He was praying for them to have a transformation that will influence every area of their lives. The New Living Translation says “I pray that your heart will be flooded with light…” This simply suggests that it’s possible to have your physical eyes open but the eyes of your heart is flooded with darkness.

The servant of Elisha woke up one morning and saw that they were surrounded by the enemy. He was so afraid that he cried in fear to his master. His physical eyes was open to see the problem but his inners eyes needed to be open or flooded with light to see divine provisions that is far bigger than all the enemy had brought. Elisha said to him “And he answered, Fear not, for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.”2 Kings 6:15-16.

In verse seventeen Elisha prayed that God should open his eyes. God answered the prayer and he saw what wasn’t obvious to the physical eyes. This is exactly what Apostle Paul was praying about. We also need to pray such prayers for ourselves, we need to see into the plan and purpose of God for our lives. There must be clarity in our lives concerning his calling, plans and purpose “...That ye may know what the hope of his calling...” This are prayer points that you can spend days, weeks, months or even more praying about until you have the clarity of God’s calling on your life just as Joseph had.

CONFESSION:
The eyes of my understanding is enlightened. I know exactly the calling and the purpose of God for my life. My heart is flooded with light.
