LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF

Mark 12:28-34
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[b] 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[c] There is no commandment greater than these.”
32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

You shall love your neighbor as yourself, there is no other commandment greater than this. Love is a sense of feeling we get for others. For instance, showing passion and concern for people without demanding for returns.

Nowadays, we pretend to show love to others but in the long run, ask for or wish to be repaid. The Bible is telling us to do unto others as we wish they could do unto us. As we set our foot outside this morning, we should remember that our Lord and savior commands us to love. Jesus said,"If you love me, follow my commandments". Failing to love our neighbors indicates that we don't follow the instructions given to humankind.

We need to give to the poor, widows, orphans and the needy. As we give generously, God will replenish us. It is ungodly to do so only to broadcast it for all to praise us. God wants us to do good to the less privileged . In times like this Corona pandemic, we ought to love and share what God has blessed us with the poor and then shall we be truly blessed as His disciples!

Brothers in this community, i want to use this as a social call to us all. We need to love each other as ourselves. It is a duty God has given to us to do. If we love each other, we will fellowship together. We will seek the well being of each other and we will grow in love and the world will see this in us.

God, give me a heart to love all as you have commanded me. Forgive me if I have not shown love yet to a relative and those of the House of Faith. Strengthen me oh Lord, to love all others as myself in Jesus' name.
