Basic Truths Of Christianity

in HeartChurch4 years ago

Commandments are rules and laws God gave to His chosen people so that they can please Him and enjoy the life he has given them. Christians have also been saved and chosen by God through faith in Christ to obey His laws and live in holiness.

When the Pharisee asked Jesus, which commandment was the most important, Jesus replied, 'if you love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and your neighbour as yourself, you have fulfilled the intent of the commandments and the other O.T. laws' (Mark 12:29-31).

To love God completely requires personal knowledge about who He is. Jesus told His followers that anyone who sees Him has seen God because He and His Father are one (John 14:9).

The Bible describes God as eternal. He is the same yesterday, today and forever; He is powerful and controls the whole world; He knows everything including you and I. He knows our thoughts and our problems; He is everywhere so nothing is hidden from Him, He knows about the Covid-19; He is Holy and expects us to be holy; He is loving and the source of our love (1 John 4:7).

All He wants is to be our friend. He is a father to us. Because of His love, He sacrificed His only son to die for our sins so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

This is the God who commands our absolute love, obedience and commitment to His service and that of our neighbors. The Holy Spirit is God’s presence in our lives, helping us to to obey and do what God wants – Philippians 2:13. When we allow him to teach us, the Holy Spirit produces the kind of attitude in our life’s that pleases God : love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness and self-control- Galatians 5:22-23. These attitudes help us to develop other moral qualities like forgiveness, compassion, thankfulness so that we can live in love and peace with all men even our enemies.

The Holy Spirit also gives us special abilities for services in the churches as well as the society in which we live. We must all use our gifts for the benefit of the church and the society. There are many souls in our society living in darkness. We must boldly use our gifts without fear or shame to win them for Christ through evangelism. If your gift is teaching, avail yourself for work in the adult Bible study and prayer groups; if it is singing, sing to the glory of God; if it is giving, give boldly with joy to help in the Kingdom business.

Loving God means caring for the needy, children and old people around us. What is your gift? Are you using it?

When you love God completely, you turn far away from sin – anger, sexual immorality, hate, pride, unforgiveness and many more because sin separates us from God- Isaiah 59:2. Let us therefore confess our sins daily to God for He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all

Beloved, as we wait for Jesus to come back, let us keep praying for the world’s peace, as we reject the pleasures of this world and focus on Christ for our redemption.May the Lord grant us the grace to occupy till he comes. Peace.
