The Ever Present Helper
The poor widow in Kings 17:8-16 was preparing to eat her last food and then die; but at the least time she excepted help, help came her way. This shows that help can come your way when you need it the most.
Sometimes, when a Christian is going through a hard time, the Lord may seem to be silent. That He is silent doesn't mean He doesn't what is going on. Though things may go on to deteriorate, the Lord will surely step in before it is too late. The Almighty God knows about that painful and very bad condition you have been living with.
Although the Lord has been silent for some time, He will now arise for you and take control of the situation. When it seems as if the Devil is about to put you to shame, just in the last time, your help will come your way. Can you imagine what would have occurred if the Angel hadn't appeared at the right time in King Nebuchadnezzar’s furnace? The three young men would have been another story, but because He came the right moment, they made history.
In the case of this widow, not only did help come at the right moment, it kept on coming every day in the light of the fact that she was connected with the Almighty God. When you go into war, your power, wisdom, and materials are limited to what you and your partners have. In other words, who you work with in a serious war can either assure your victory or the other way round.
At such a crucial time, the widow worked with the Lord that is more than enough, and she never had to beg for food. Who is your partner today? When confronted with a most difficult time, who do you turn to for help? If you turn to a man whose resources are limited, you won't be able to deal with that situation. If you turn to a local or foreign deity, you will still not get what you wanted.
Some individuals rely on charms, rings, and other diabolical means from so-called Indian spiritual temples for help. It is very sad that after the serpent spirits of that kind of temples have offered some kind of fake help to them, those spirits would turn them into their slaves, and ruin their precious destiny and that of their family members. Partner with the Almighty God who can help you always in times of need.
You can't guarantee that God will help you. If we've accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior we should ask for God's help and hope that he will help us but there is no guarantee.
It's worth noting that God used the widow to help Elijah. God can cause non-believers to help you. God can also prevent people from harming you.
(1 Kings 17:8-16 NIV) Then the word of the LORD came to him: {9} "Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay there. I have commanded a widow in that place to supply you with food." {10} So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, "Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?" {11} As she was going to get it, he called, "And bring me, please, a piece of bread." {12} "As surely as the LORD your God lives," she replied, "I don't have any bread--only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it--and die." {13} Elijah said to her, "Don't be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small cake of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. {14} For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD gives rain on the land.'" {15} She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. {16} For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the LORD spoken by Elijah.
