DO NOT RESIST AN EVIL PERSON

  1. “But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers!
  2. Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? WHY DO YOU NOT RATHER LET YOURSELVES BE CHEATED?”
    1 Corinthians 6:6,7 (NKJV)
  • A Christian may be legally right to fight for some things, however, God may not want him to fight for it (1 Corinthians 6:7).
  • God’s patterns and ways are always right, and in most cases they are always contrary to our own ways.
  1. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.
  2. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
    Isaiah 55:8,9 (NKJV)

• God does not want us to fight for ourselves, He does not want us to live independently of Him.

  • Every matter should be taken to God in prayer and allowed Him to treat the matter as He deemed fit (Philippians 4:6).
  1. “But I tell you NOT TO RESIST AN EVIL PERSON. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.
  2. If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also.
  3. “And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
  4. “Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.”
    Matthew 5:39-42 (NKJV)
  • God’s pattern and perspective about things are different completely (Matthew 26:51-54; John 18:35,36).

• If you go against His Word, you want to use the system of the world; you may be surprised when you call on Him, He may not answer.

  • God can only intervene in your situation when you follow His Word and pattern.
  • The Bible does not say we should fight for ourselves, that is, fight for our rights.
  • What the Bible tells us is to take every matter to God in prayer.
  1. “BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, BUT IN EVERYTHING BY PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION, WITH THANKSGIVING, let your requests be made known to God.

  2. and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
    Philippians 4:6,7 (NKJV)

  3. “Thus says the LORD of hosts: “The children of Israel were oppressed, along with the children of Judah; all who took them captive have held them fast; they have refused to let them go.

  4. Their Redeemer is strong; The LORD of hosts is His name. HE WILL THOROUGHLY PLEAD THEIR CASE, that He may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.”
    Jeremiah 50:33,34 (NKJV)

• God is the One who will plead their case. He will fight their battles, not they will fight by themselves.
“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
Exodus 14:14 (NKJV)

  • Any attempt to fight for themselves, fight for their freedom and rights, can be disastrous and calamitous—cause great damage to people’s lives, property and whatever.
  • Anytime God’s people want to have their way, go against His Word, disaster is always the outcome.

• Take note:

  • Learn to wait on God 🙏 and allow Him to fight your battles.
  • You may know your right and think you can fight for yourself legally; but be sure of one thing, God would not be a part to it—you are on your own.
  • God helps the helpless, He does not help those who can help themselves (Psalm 33:20; 46:1).
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help [an abundant available help] in trouble.”
    Psalm 46:1 (NKJV)
  • If you know how to do it, how to fight your battles, how to maneuver your ways; you may not need His help, and He may not show up when you call on Him.
  • God can only fight when you allow Him, trust His wisdom; allow Him to do it in His own way: whichever way or manner He may want to do it, and at His own time (Psalm 81:11-14).
  • We are the sheep of His pasture; we cannot do anything without His say-so (Psalm 95:7).
  • An attempt to do things contrary to His Word may lead to sorrow and frustration.
  • God can only work if you operate within the ambit of His Word–the Bible.

• Grace to depend on HIM solely is released on you in Jesus’ name.
Peace!
