Living as a Christian is not a casual way of living. It is a duty we stand to perform. It is a duty done with the consciousness of the abiding grace within. The “heaviness” of duty is not in the hardness of the path; but in the strict compliance with the divine rules that make for triumphant living.

God’s yoke is easy and His burden is light. It is however interesting to know that it’s heavy duty carrying some light materials due to their fragile nature. Huge sums of money, great expertise and great care are sometimes required in handling fragile materials. The watch word in handling such items is often time inscribed – “fragile-handle with care”.

So it is the life we have in Christ. Scriptures affirm – “Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” 1 Corinthians 10:12.

Averting a fall is the daily duty of the believer. With your hands set at the plough, you just have to keep at it.
Averting a fall is one thing and averting exploitation is another. God promises to uphold you as long as you learn to keep your hands in His hands. The duty you have in avoiding being exploited by the enemy is a very heavy one and it is personal; for the just shall live by his own faith.

The Christian life is one loaded with divine benefits. The enemy aims at these benefits and he works to strip men off them. The devil works to smear men with his vices which he uses to drain these benefits off God’s children. Jesus said;

“The prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in Me” John 14:30.

It is heavy duty avoiding being smeared by the enemy. It takes the sacrifice and the discipline of faith.

It is heavy duty shining as a light in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. In a world where every direction you turn incites for sinfulness, it is heavy duty standing true. It takes extra effort moving against the direction of the evil winds. It was heavy duty for Joseph to move against the evil proposal of his master’s wife.

He lost his job and it meant his imprisonment. He held unto his “duty post” in holiness and God moved in such a miraculous way to vindicate him. It is heavy duty to keep faith to the very end and to be able to say like Paul – “I have finished my course”.
