What is it called when you believe in Jesus but do not worship him?

This is quite common: people believe “in” Jesus but they fail to actually “believe Jesus”. If you believe Jesus, it means you believe what He said, what He promises you, what He did to save us all.

Often, “believing in” Jesus is superficial and can simply be a belief that stems from the belief of others and you respect these others and so believe as they believe.

If you believe in Jesus but don't worship Him, it is probably due to one of these reasons:

You strictly follow the doctrine of worshipping God the Father in Jesus' name and not Jesus alone.

You're lazy.

Please don't say you believe him as a "good man" and follow his principles —youll either believe He was who He said he was —the Son of God (He always referred to himself as the Son of Man- which was short for Man of Holiness, a reference to God the Father)—so you either believe that or that he was a lunatic. There is no in-between. You can't cop out and based on His historicity and fame think of his influence as "good, so he was a good guy". No—it is either/or.

It also means your idea of worship is immature. Cynics think all worship is singing praises like some zombie drone. In reality, worship is a combination of things. Among them are reminding ourselves and gratefully pondering His great love and life and sacrifice because we have a relationship with Him. BUT also one of my favorite verses in scripture: Matthew 15:25 “Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.” See that? Worship is recognizing and ASKING FOR HIS HELP.

But whatever the reason above or any other, they all have one common underlying reason:

YOU DONT KNOW HIM BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT SERVED HIM AND STUDIED HIS LIFE AND HIS WORDS.

Do that and eventually you will worship Him according to the Holy Spirit.
