According to this book, “be still” is traditionally interpreted as a command to be reverent and meditate on God's blessings; And while it is good Christian practice to meditate on the goodness of God, "be still" in this verse was actually a command to "Stop fighting." The Hebrew verb means to cease, to be inactive. "Surrender"; "Stop"; "Desist"; "Drop your weapons"; "Make peace".
