Called to Serve
As a believer, it is your responsibility or duty to serve God. The major purpose of your existence on earth is to serve God, remember he brought the children of Israel out of Egypt so that they might serve him.
Also, your services' to God must not be tag to any condition, it must be in sincerity and in truth according to Joshua 24:14,
.
"Now therefore, [reverently] fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and in truth; put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the [Euphrates] River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.".
WHY YOU SHOULD SERVE GOD
(1) You serve God because it's a command to do so.
Matthew 4:10, "Then Jesus said to him, Begone, Satan! For it has been written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him alone shall you serve."
(2) You serve God in appreciation for your soul salvation.
(3) To express your love for God, it is in place of service that your love for God is seen, (John 21:15-17).
(4) As an expression of obedience to God's commandments, 1John 5:3
"In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome," so whenever you are serving God, you are obeying God's commandments.
Let see how a believer can serve God effectively.
- You serve by sharing in the burden, through your contribution, support and time to God's work. The Bible records that you serve God with your substance.
For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. (1cor.3:9)
You serve with gladness, not complaining and murmuring.
You serve newness of spirit (Romans, 7:6)
with all your heart and soul.
You serve in sincerity and in truth. Not serving to be known or seen.
It must be done willingly. You don't need to be compelled or forced, it should come from a willing heart (1Chronicles 28:9)
Benefits of serving God
Honour; God honours those who serve him (John 12:26) "Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me."
Prosperity: when you serve God, you will spend your days in prosperity
Deliverance from physical danger. (Daniel 6:22) "My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.”
You will enjoy an incorruptible crown in Christ Jesus.
Finally, I urge you my readers and fellow believers to see the need to serve God, He deserves it. And also, it's in your place of service that God will hear you. He blesses your barn and wine and doesn't allow evil to come near you when you serve him.
