God is Always By Our Side When We Obey Him
Exodus 19:5 (NIV)
"Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine,
Brothers and Sister obedience open so many ways and chances for our successes. It's being a child who obeys your parents so much; every where you are sent you go, you obey their principles in life. By all means if they have any possession to be share in their Will, your would not be left out. You will be lucky to get the great possession than your siblings who do not show up in obeying their parents. You would be loved by your parents for respecting their teachings in the course of upbringing you.
God act in the same manner, when we obey him, keep his commandments in life, He blesses us with successes in all our generations. He gives us what we need to live with in this life. God blessed Abraham because of his covenant that he kept with God. God loved him and blessed him and his generation for being obedient to his words. Abraham followed God throughout his entire life. Today we many story to share on Abraham being a good father since he obeyed God. The Bible is therefore our study tool to learn and reflects on the good deeds that most men of God left.
All that God has on this Earth is for us when we turn to him, obey him and keep our faith in Him. He makes us unique people in this life. After our long living on this Earth as we keep obeying him, He has prepared eternal Salvation for us. That even the ultimate purpose we are here. A time will come that our efforts in obeying God will bear many fruit for us, that's Salvation for our souls in Heaven. Being on this Earth is a bonus for us, it's extra advantage for us. Living on this Earth is showing our work input that would yield result in future for us, that's work output. So, for those who strive and work hard can see the best of their effort they input in the work to be done. But, those who played on their time would inefficiently produce less in that capacity.
These are many grace and favor God has prepared for us. We can grasp as many as possible if we keep our Covenant with God. Living with his Holy words that guide us in life. The word is our light that shines upon darkness in our ways. The words direct and lead us in our ways. When we trust and obey the words of God He makes our lives different among our people. Be blessed, Brothers and Sisters. Keep up to God all the time, your life will never be the same.

Of a truth if you read through that scripture once again, you would realize that that very statement marked the beginning of Saul's problems because the Spirit of God departed from him and was replaced with evil spirit.

Jesus said something similar.
(John 14:21-24 NIV) Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him." {22} Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?" {23} Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. {24} He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

You don't mention Jesus once.
The verse in Exodus has nothing to do with the church. The promises that God made to Israel are not the same promises that God made to the church.
God is always with us even when we're disobedient. We're not saved by keeping God's commandments. We're saved by repenting of our sins and accepting what Jesus did on the cross as payment for those sins. And by accepting Jesus as Lord, we try to do all that Jesus commanded us.
