God First Gave.

John 3:16 (NIV)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The Bible made us understand that God first gave to us even when we are undeserving. This is what we should cultivate as Christians. Most people would rather be good to only those who are good to them but that is not the ways of God. God wants us to be good to others even when we feel they don't deserve it.

There is nothing we have that we have not received and one of my favourite part in the Bible says "And Jesus went about doing good". This truth points me to understand that every opportunity that Jesus had to do good, He never faltered. As Christians, we are the light of the world, a city set upon a hill that must not be hidden. Others should see the goodness of God with the ways we live our lives and by how we can usher them to God.

I belong to a group of believers who shared this same dream and vision and through a partnership with " Stirring The Waters Ministry", "The New Nations Church", "Lend A Hand Initiative" and other individuals, we were able to extend the hand of love through giving to so many people. We found a central point, made tags and shared it with as many people as possible. We targeted 400 people and we exhausted it. In fact, we did more than 400 because the 400 projected was for the food items and we also had those who were gifted clothes, shoes and other things.

1 Corinthians 4:7 (NIV)

For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

It is not by power, so no man can boast. God made this possible through everyone who contributed and showed the heart of Christ. The Bible opened my eyes to another aspect where Jesus was talking to His disciples. He said He was in prison but no one visited Him. He was thirsty and no one gave Him a drink. He said He was homeless and no one gave Him a place to lay His head. The disciples were confused and asked when they saw Him in all of these and did nothing, to which Jesus answered and said, "Inasmuch as you haven't done it to these, you haven't done it to me".

Jesus wants us to be well aware of our surroundings and the needs of others around us. He doesn't want us to live for ourselves alone but for others as well. I always laugh when some have bread to eat and they brag about it like that rich man in the Bible. They seem to have forgotten someone owns that bakery and also that God is the giver of all good things.

As Christians, we should constantly seek ways to show God to others. What is the essence of the confession of our faith when we can't show it to others? It is only what we believe in that we would ask others to come and be a part of. If we believe in God then we would follow the ways of Jesus by doing good. God first gave to us and we should be of help to others too.

Sort:

If we give only to those we received from we are not making a godly difference in the world. We gave nothing to God before He gave us His only son. This is an example we should pattern our lifestyle.
@olawalium in these shall men know that we are indeed God's people when we demonstrate his Love to the WORLD.
Grace shall abound for you and your group.
Amen.

Amen. Thank you so much. Lovely comment.

The act of giving is simply following in our Lord Jesus Christ's footsteps. It would be really amazing if everyone realizes that not only should we just say that we love God, we should also show our love by doing His work.

We should love and by doing His works it shows we love God.

We should give from what we have. The word of God is that when we give, wealth never decreases, but wealth increases. So we should give to poor people, it makes God happy.

Absolutely. It makes God happy.

Matthew 25:40 "The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

Absolutely. It's all for God.

If we help others, God will help us. They can not but help others who have faith in God.

Very true.

We need to keep track of those around us and help them in their peril.

We sure do.
