BECOMING A DIFFERENT PERSON

BECOMING A DIFFERENT PERSON

One of the problems we are facing in our local churches these days is that majority of the members have not been converted to Christ; they are merely repentant sinners without genuine conversion experience. This is why some of them find it difficult to live as Christians in their daily lives.

Conversion means to make a complete turn about that will involve more than changing of your mind, attitude or morals; because, every part of your life must be affected in conversion. When a person is converted to Christ, his desire, lifestyle and outlook on life will change.

The book of Jn. 5:24 will help illustrate what conversion is; there was a man who was a drunkard. He also gambled and lived a notorious life. After hearing the gospel, he repented, confessed his sins and forsook them completely. He no longer gambles or gets drunk. He now hates things he once loved and loved things of God he once hated; those who know him said “he is converted; he is now a different person”. Both Paul the apostle, the Philippian jailer and Thessalonian Christians were examples of converted sinners.

The purpose of conversion is for the sinner to turn away from sin, evil ways and eternal death. It is also to turn to the narrow way that leads to eternal life. In conversion, we take the first step on the road to eternal life. Your sins will be blotted out and spiritual refreshment will be sent to you from above. Except you are converted, your sin may not be blotted out.
