What do you preach? Hell or heaven?
The Gospel is also known as The GOOD NEWS. But today, the gospel has been replaced with the news of threat and fear. Most Christians no longer preach Christ but rather threaten unbelievers/sinners with the message about hell.
The message about hell wasn't the original message Jesus commissioned us to preach. Jesus said he brought good tidings of peace and not of fear or threat. The Gospel was meant to bring peace, joy, faith not the other way round.
I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:9-10
For instance, if marketers fed their clients with all the risk involved in the business they are about to invest in, we will discover that no client will be willing to invest in such business. But instead they will give them good reasons why they should invest in the business without revealing the risk involved in the business.
How can you preach hell to someone who is already in darkness? Why threaten them that they will perish in hell if they fail to accept Jesus? Why condemn sinners before leading them to Christ?
Many people follow Jesus today because of the fear of hell not because they love God.
But guess what!
The Gospel of God's Kingdom is void of any underlying risk, fear or threat. When we go out to preach the Gospel, let's tell unbelievers/sinners how beautiful heaven is, God's promises concerning their lives, God's blessings and most importantly His willingness to forgive them despite their sins. This is the good news.
A dying man needs life not more details about death. Every sinner needs the good news and not the bad news.
Cos the good news restores life to the dying and soundness in the bones. It restores joy and peace
Let's start preaching the Gospel...
Let's stop preaching the Hell...
Reach out and share the good news of light to that friend and family wallowing in darkness.
Someone out there needs to hear this good news.
You just revealed a hidden thought I'd bore in mind for long. Truly the approach that some pastors adopt in preaching the gospel is often time a thing of concern to me.
I am still wondering the caliber of people who took the to woman to Jesus to finish her but thank God for Jesus who deflated their ego by exposing their flaws. And of a truth, no one could pick up the stone.
