Recognising God's voice

If we are to have active faith we are going to have to recognise His 'Voice.' According to scripture the sheep know the Master's voice.

The Voice of God is actually recognised in a number of ways:
On occasions there will be a voice which is audible or virtually audible.

Sometimes there will be that soft and gentle inner voice which is received through the Spirit.

Sometimes the voice will actually be in picture form - God will give a mental picture to convey what He is saying.

Sometimes a passage of the scripture will 'leap' off the page with something directly relevant to your question. This is not the same as searching the scripture until you find something remotely applicable.

Sometimes there will be a prophecy - in these cases you should expect the confirmation of two or three witnesses.

Sometimes another christian will be given something for you. Again in these cases you should ask God for the confirmation of two or three witnesses. Don't rely on one christain's word or vision no matter how mighty a man/woman of God he or she is.

Sometimes God will use other methods of speaking to us.

We should expect to appreciate within us confirmation from the Spirit who dwells within. This can vary from the the Spirit 'leaping' within us to a sense of peace then we must beware. The scripture says let peace rule in your heart.
No peace! No do!

When God speaks faith arises so long as we receive His Word. When we receive His Word we have the essential foundation upon which receipt of His promise will come.
