Christ is Risen - Halleluyah
Luke 24:6-7: He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee. The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again. source.
Today marks the peak of our Easter celebration and as Christians this is one of our most revered moments in history as it commemorates the resurrection of our Lord and Master Jesus. Had Christ not risen where would we have been? What would have become of Christians and Christianity, what about our salvation and emanicipation?
It is for this reason why we celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ. Yesterday i was listening to a pastor talk about the passion of Christ, the things he went through before finally been hung on the cross and it really got to me so much, i felt is only necessary that i share the message i got too.
He mentioned the scourge tradition that criminals and those convicted of different felonies as at that time went through and he did mention that no one ever went through scourge and crucifixion with the exception of Christ. Apparently scourging was so deadly that the mention of it causes fear and panic and could literally shut a whole crowd up. It would interest you to learn that the beatings Christ had was not just any ordinary one.
His skin was literally been peeled off with every whip and all this while had thorns on the head too. Imagined all this and then going in for a cross to carry on another journey to crucifixion. The dehydration he may have went through, the physical shock the body may have experienced. The excruciating pain which cannot be fathomed. And the fact that the journal of the american medical association in concluding on the physical cause of death of Christ been a literal heart break.
Brethren Christ is indeed risen and we have every reason to celebrate for our salvation cometh however lets remind ourselves what Christ went through to save you and I, that we may not take our salvation for granted and continue to right by the Lord for his sacrifice. May we be guided into repentance and salvation even as we grow stronger in the Lord. Thanks for your time and have happy Easter.
