HONORING GOD

Honoring God is one of the most difficult things that today's man would do since honoring God is a lifestyle that is preserved by those who have God as their father and have understood what humility means

In order to honor other people we need a spirit of humility in us and this we can only achieve through God who will give us the wisdom to be able to honor others and abandon all kinds of pride avoiding getting entangled in the practices of the world

In the Bible we find various passages where men and women demonstrate how they honored God in the course of their lives, but how we all have a favorite passage from the Bible and some have several because I also have several but there is a specific one that moves my heart is the first apocalypse chapter

Revelation 1: 12-18
12 And I turned to see the voice that spoke to me; and turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks,
13 and in the midst of the seven candlesticks, one similar to the Son of Man, dressed in clothing that reached to his feet, and girded around his chest with a golden belt.
14 His head and hair were white like white wool, like snow; his eyes like a flame of fire;
15 and his feet like burnished bronze, glowing as in an oven; and his voice like the noise of many waters.
16 He had seven stars in his right hand; From his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and his face was like the sun when it shines in his strength.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he put his right hand on me, saying: Fear not; I am the first and the last;
18 And he that liveth, and was dead; but behold, I live forever and ever, amen. And I have the keys of death and Hades.

These verses show us a man full of humility before the Lord because I look at Juan lying at the Lord's feet I cannot look at him otherwise it is the only way a broken man looks at him at the Lord's feet and from that perspective from the ground Juan begins to relate what he discovers in Jesus for example he says his head his hair was white like white wool like snow his eyes like flame of fire the first thing that John sees is the perfect holiness of God in the midst of another apocalyptic vision Juan exclaims who will not fear you oh lord and glorify your name because only you are holy is something indispensable to serve the lord to be his son and seek holiness

It is important to say that today we hardly hear messages about holiness today we hear messages about positive thoughts of social human development to make riches of prosperity but the theme of holiness is central in the bible and should be the central theme of the church.

1 Thessalonians 4: 7-8
Because God has not called us to impurity, but to sanctification. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but the God who gives you his Holy Spirit.

Seek holiness in your mind in your weighing in your attitudes in the use of your money in your personal life in every detail of your life because the human experience is a characteristic of those who want to honor the Lord.
