The Heavenly Kingdom
Heavenly kingdom on earth is the will of God is being done on earth.
John 18:36
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
If the kingdom of our Lord and savior isn’t of this world, why do some of believers live as if their own kingdom is of this world?
I’ve seen people of this world killing other people because of the things of the earth, and even, many has elevated the things of this world as if that’s the only reason for our existence.
Earthly things are made to serve us, and not otherwise. For teaching purpose, I’ll share a little illustration. Assuming that your father is a king forever, and you as his child has grown to understand how wealthy your father is and that everything he has belong to you; his lands, his business, his empire, would you be gullible as some of the hired laborers in the pursuit of crumbs from your father’s table?
That’s how we are on earth. The kingdom of men is like a crumb from God’s kingdom which doesn’t worth our pursuit. Paul was writing to the Colossians Church concerning theirs conduct as believers, and he says in the book of Colossians 3:1-4
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Affection controls emotions, and emotions controls our actions. The understanding that we’re raised with Christ is so powerful to direct our affection on the things of Christ. And about the things of Christ, we should remember that his kingdom is not of this world.
To a carnal man, it’ll be too hard to appreciate the riches of Christ and the great inheritance that God has in the saints; which was the reason that the apostle Paul prayed in the book of Ephesians 1:15-18
Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.
This my prayer for the body of Christ. That the hope of our calling should be well established in our hearts so that we could remain focused on the business of our father, and as we patiently wait for the appearing of our great God and his son Jesus Christ. Amen.
