“𝙃𝙤𝙣𝙧𝙖 𝙖 𝙩𝙪 𝙥𝙖𝙙𝙧𝙚 𝙮 𝙖 𝙩𝙪 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙧𝙚, para que vivas mucho tiempo en la tierra que te dará Jehová * tu Dios” (Éxodo 20:12,)

*Dios les mandó a los israelitas que honraran a sus padres.👨‍🦳👩‍🦳 Al añadir una promesa a este mandato, les dio una razón más para obedecerlo. Aunque la Ley que Dios les dio a los israelitas, conocida como Ley mosaica, ya no está en vigor, el criterio de Dios no ha cambiado. Las verdades básicas en las que se basa esa Ley siguen siendo igual de válidas hoy, y por eso son importantes para los cristianos (Colosenses 3:20).🌟
Los hijos,sin importar la edad que tengan, honran a sus padres si los respetan y obedecen (Levítico 19:3; Proverbios 1:8). Incluso cuando ya son adultos y han formado su propia familia, siguen preocupándose con cariño por sus padres y ayudándolos. Por ejemplo, se aseguran de que estén bien cuidados cuando ya son mayores, y hasta los ayudan económicamente en caso de que sea necesario
(Mateo 15:4-6; 1 Timoteo 5:4, 8).🌟
*Los israelitas tenían que honrar a su padre y también a su madre; así reconocían el papel tan importante que tiene la madre en la familia (Proverbios 6:20; 19:26). Los hijos de hoy deberían hacer lo mismo.

*Eso sí, el mandato de honrar a los padres siempre ha tenido límites. Los hijos israelitas no tenían que obedecer a sus padres,Ni a ninguna otra persona,Si eso significaba desobedecer a Dios (Deuteronomio 13:6-8). Hoy también, los cristianos deben “obedecer a Dios como gobernante más bien que a los hombres” (Hechos 5:29).🌟
*En la Ley que Dios le dio a Israel, les prometió a los hijos que, si honraban a sus padres, vivirían mucho tiempo y les iría bien en la tierra que él les iba a dar ¡Deuteronomio 5:16!. Evitarían el castigo que se daba a los hijos adultos que pasaban por alto la ley de Dios y se rebelaban contra sus padres (Deuteronomio 21:18-21). Las verdades básicas que hay detrás de esas leyes no han cambiado con el paso del tiempo (Efesios 6:1-3). Seamos jóvenes o mayores, somos responsables ante nuestro Creador. Y él cumplirá su promesa: los hijos que obedezcan a Dios y a sus padres vivirán mucho tiempo. De hecho, tienen la esperanza de vivir para siempre (1 Timoteo 4:8; 6:18, 19).🌟

*El mandato de (Éxodo 20:12)ocupa un lugar clave en la lista de los Diez Mandamientos, o las Diez Palabras (Éxodo 20:1-17). Los mandamientos que aparecen justo antes hablan de las obligaciones que los israelitas tenían con Dios, como la de adorarlo solo a él. Y los mandamientos que aparecen justo después hablan de las obligaciones que tenían hacia otras personas, como la de ser fiel al cónyuge y la de no robar. Así que algunos ven el mandamiento “Honra a tu padre y a tu madre” como un puente entre ambos grupos de mandamientos.💫

"𝙃𝙤𝙣𝙧𝙖 𝙖 𝙩𝙪 𝙥𝙖𝙙𝙧𝙚 𝙮 𝙖 𝙩𝙪 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙧𝙚, so that you may live a long time in the land that Jehovah * your God will give you" (Exodus 20:12,)

• God commanded the Israelites to honor their parents. 👩‍ By adding a promise to this command, he gave them one more reason to obey it. Although the Law that God gave the Israelites, known as the Mosaic Law, is no longer in effect, God's criteria have not changed. The basic truths on which that Law is based are still just as valid today, and that is why they are important to Christians (Colossians 3:20) .🌟
  Children, regardless of their age, honor their parents if they respect and obey them (Leviticus 19: 3; Proverbs 1: 8). Even when they are adults and have started their own family, they continue to care lovingly for their parents and help them. For example, they make sure they are well cared for when they are older, and even help them financially if necessary.
  (Matthew 15: 4-6; 1 Timothy 5: 4, 8) .🌟
  The Israelites had to honor their father and also their mother; Thus they recognized the important role that the mother has in the family (Proverbs 6:20; 19:26). Today's children should do the same.

• Of course, the mandate to honor parents has always had limits. Israelite children did not have to obey their parents, or anyone else, if that meant disobeying God (Deuteronomy 13: 6-8). Today too, Christians must "obey God as ruler rather than men" (Acts 5:29) .🌟

• In the Law that God gave to Israel, he promised the children that, if they honored their parents, they would live a long time and it would be good for them in the land that he was going to give them. Deuteronomy 5:16! They would avoid the punishment given to adult children who ignored God's law and rebelled against their parents (Deuteronomy 21: 18-21). The basic truths behind these laws have not changed over time (Ephesians 6: 1-3). Whether we are young or old, we are responsible to our Creator. And he will keep his promise: children who obey God and their parents will live a long time. In fact, they hope to live forever (1 Timothy 4: 8; 6:18, 19) .🌟

• The command of (Exodus 20:12) occupies a key place in the list of the Ten Commandments, or the Ten Words (Exodus 20: 1-17). The commandments that appear just before speak of the obligations that the Israelites had to God, such as worshiping him alone. And the commandments that appear right after speak of the obligations they had towards other people, such as being faithful to their spouse and not stealing. So some see the command "Honor your father and your mother" as a bridge between both sets of commandments.💫
