Grow in the grace of God
2 Peter 3:18 "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."
No new believer matures as a Christian without having a relationship with the Lord. God is the one who transforms us but it is our responsibility to put what we have learned into practice.
The Bible gives us powerful principles to grow spiritually such as:
• We must renew our mind; Although the Lord saves us and gives us a new spirit, it is our duty to control the thoughts we entertain and focus our minds on what honors the Lord.
• Recognize our failures and take responsibility for them; if we deny our sins, we delay our spiritual growth. On the other hand, if we confess our transgressions, the opposite happens and we mature, because we admit that we depend on God, and how much we need him.
• Repentance; This means that we commit ourselves to make a 180 degree turn and head in the opposite direction from our sins.
Believers should bear fruits worthy of repentance such as love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.
