19 Therefore, my beloved brothers, every man is quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 For the wrath of man does not bring about the justice of God 21 Therefore, putting aside all filth and abundance of malice, meekly receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
(James 1:19-22)

The word has the power to save us from a life of sin, but only if it is received and welcomed into our hearts, when we pay unreserved attention to the word of God, it becomes implanted and rooted in us.

If you and I are going to walk in the power of God, we must heed the advice in verse 22 that we are not just hearers of the word but doers. Otherwise we will deceive ourselves with reasoning that is contrary to the truth.

It is the truth and only the truth that will set us free and keep us free. Both to work in us and to receive the promise of God. We must become servants of God and not of our human nature, of other people or things.

The essence of all this is that God is our helper and healer, he has a personalized plan for our lives, let us begin to walk obediently towards the truth, let us take one step at a time, obeying the word requires perseverance and diligence, it does not work in a vacuum, we cannot try to see if it works, but we must have a dedication and commitment to obey the word. Whatever the consequences, the word will always guide us to the good.
