Buenos días..!!!

We often confuse blessing with success or prevention of difficulties God has assured that he will fill all those who love him with blessings. "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord ...", says the prophet. "Come blessed of my Father ...", Jesus says later. But before this promise of blessing repeated repeatedly in the Bible, what to understand? Blessing is often confused with success or prevention of difficulties: why do we have problems if we love the Lord, strive to live in his paths, and pray insistently day and night? There is a religious movement that has spread that to those who love God and fulfill his will, nothing bad can happen to them. The Word of God is often abused and phrases such as "the Blood of Christ has power" or "I cover myself with the Blood of the Lord" are used to think that in a magical way said sealing will protect us against everything that is normally seen submitted the human being. Misused, Holy Scripture can be deeply manipulative and lead us to believe things that it does not want to tell us, such as seeking protection with the open holy book on Psalm 91 in the living room of the house. Blessing and success are not related. If the two terms were to be identified, then one would have to conclude that Jesus was not blessed by God since his work was an apparent failure in the eyes of the world. Those who love God also get sick, have difficulties and die, but that is not why we are going to affirm that they are not blessed by the Lord.

The blessing should be understood rather as the accompaniment that God makes so that, in the midst of the storms, the ship of our life reaches a safe harbor. It is the certainty that although the path may be tortuous and full of obstacles, still everyone who loves God and fulfills his mandates, whatever he undertakes, will have a good end (cf. Psalm 1). God does not promise that the process will be free of difficulties and pain, but that the end result will make his glory manifest and serve the benefit of man. The love of God is an amulet that protects against everything. The same evil spirit wanted to deceive Jesus with Sacred Scripture when he quoted verbatim that verse from Psalm 91 where it says that “he has given orders to his angels to keep you in their ways” and inviting him to throw himself headlong from the eaves of the temple knowing himself that if he did, he would crash to the ground, dying instantly. God blesses those who love him, He keeps their steps, but does not prevent difficulties in life. This is not a joke in existence. If it were this way how easy it would be to use his name and his power abusively just as the Evil One invited Christ to do it.
