A CHALLENGE TO THE AUTHORITY OF CHRIST.

in HeartChurch5 years ago

Read to reflect on the following reading:
Matthew 21: 23-27
23 When Jesus entered the temple area, the chief priests and the elder leaders of the people approached him while he was teaching, and asked him:
-With what authority are you doing this? Who gave it to you?
24 Jesus answered them:
—I will also ask you a question and if you answer it I will tell you by what authority I do these things: 25 Where did John's baptism come from? Of God or of men?
They began to argue with each other and said: "If we say that it came from God, he will ask us:" Why then did they not believe him? " 26 But we cannot say that it came from men. We are afraid of people because everyone believes that John was a prophet. 27 Then they answered Jesus:
-We do not know.
He told them:
"Well, I'm not going to tell you by what authority I do these things."

Jesus always presented a challenge for his authority especially for the Pharisees who constantly followed him with the intention of seeking some fault to tempt him and question his power, but what the Pharisees did not know was that He never had failures because He was God so So much is perfect.

In this way the religious authorities of that time hoped to surprise him in some blasphemy to discredit him before the people and thus question his authority.

Jesus is sovereign and perfect God and always has a perfect answer for the moment and for the place that is why he answers with another question which they did not expect.

This is how Jesus confronts them and puts him between a rock and a hard place in a difficult situation for them to handle sincerely because they were hypocritical and false and instead of responding they argued with each other, however they did not agree because the two alternatives that they had to answer had no argument and chose to answer that they did not know.

No one can challenge God because He is perfect and sovereign and executes his sovereignty as He wants.

Sovereignty is one of God's attributes to act as he wishes without anyone ordering it.

Man can never challenge God either with his pride or with his earthly power because He defeated the world is the author of life and the entire universe and shows his sovereignty from ancient times to the ends of the earth without anyone authorizing it.It is also important to know that God hates the pride and hardness of the heart of the hypocrites because he knows our hearts perfectly.

Excellent phrases for the message @giacamila777 "Jesus is a sovereign and perfect God and always has a perfect response for the moment and place." this is how our God acts with wisdom and precision at the exact and correct moment because He is sovereign.
