Holy Spirit as our comforter
John 14: 16-17
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, to be with you forever: the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; but you know him, because he dwells with you, and he will be in you."

In this verse we read about how Jesus gives the last instructions and comforts his disciples shortly before being arrested by the Jews.
Jesus soon ascended to the Father. The fact that Jesus went to the Father meant that they were left alone ... unless He sent someone else in their place, who could fill their absence. Or, in other words, if He Himself returned to them with a "different appearance".
And, as we will see soon, this is exactly what happened! Although Jesus is absent bodily, His presence today is even more palpable than before! Thanks to the Comforter, the Holy Spirit.
John 14:26
But the Comforter, who is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you.
Always having the Spirit with us means having the guidance of the Holy Spirit in our daily life. We may, for example, receive a warning from the Spirit to resist the temptation to act wrongly.
The company of the Holy Spirit makes good more attractive, and temptation less convincing. This alone is enough to give us the determination to deserve that the Spirit is always with us.
Just as the Holy Spirit strengthens us against evil, it also gives us the power to distinguish truth from falsehood.
Our human thinking and the use of the physical senses will not be enough. We live in an age when even the wisest will be very difficult to distinguish between truth and deception.
The truths that mark the way to God are confirmed by the Holy Spirit.
The certification of the truth reaches the son of God, who have declared their right to receive the Holy Spirit. Since false witnesses and lies can be presented to us at any time, we need the constant influence of the Spirit of truth to rid us of moments of doubt.
There are many reasons why we need the constant company of the Holy Spirit. We desire this and yet we know from our own experience that this is not easy.
Each of us thinks, speaks, and acts in a way that can offend the Spirit. The Lord taught us that the Holy Spirit will be our constant companion when our hearts are full of mercy and virtue constantly adorns our thoughts.
Therefore, dear brothers and sisters in Christ, know: Jesus did not leave you. He is not somewhere far away; is near. Jesus, through the Comforter, lives in each one of us!
