Isaiah 42:8 KJV
"I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images."

Glory simply means praise, honour or distinction extended to someone by common consent.

The Bible says God is a jealous God, and His honour, praise or glory He will give to no other, nor His praise to graven images.

John realized the danger of sharing the Lord's glory with Him, so he declared, He must increase, while I must decrease. In other words, the Lord's Name must be exalted at all times, not John's name, irrespective of whatever He uses John to accomplish.

It doesn't matter how highly anointed you may be, you cannot attribute to yourself the glory that is due to the Almighty God. You are so eloquent and charismatic in preaching God's Word, you have no glory in this, it is the Lord that gave you utterances and unction, let all glory return to Him.

Whatever you and I have accomplished in the Lord's vineyard is for His own glory, and not for self exaltation or benefits. God says His glory He will give to no other, nor His praise to graven images, so we must be very careful and ensure that only His Name is exalted in everything we do in the Lord's vineyard.

Humility is necessary for us to attribute all glory to God. Jesus was humble. Paul was humble. John was humble, to mention but a few. Is pride gradually creeping into your life and ministry, and this has resulted in you seeing yourself as the author of everything you see happen in your life and ministry?

The moment you begin to say, 'I', instead of 'He', you have missed it. Pride has set in, and the glory that should go to the Lord, is now being attributed to yourself, and that is dangerous.

Finally, it takes Christ like nature to be humble. And until you are broken and become humble in heart, pride will certainly overtake and ruin your life and ministry.
