LUST OF THE EYES

🔑📖Key Verse: "Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way" (PSALM 119:37).

What the eye sees controls the mind. Therefore, do not allow your eyes to see worthless and sinful things. The Psalmist in our text for today knew how important this is; so, he pleaded with God to turn away his eyes from looking at worthless things, so that he could always be lively in the way of the Lord.

Jesus Christ said that the eye is "the light of the body." An ungodly and lustful eye allows the darkness of sin and uncleanness into the soul. What your mind imagines depends on what your eyes feeds it with.

Eve saw that the fruit was good for food before she desired it. Achan saw that the Babylonian garment was beautiful and he coveted it. Beware of the 'Lust of the eyes'.

Let God deliver your eyes from looking at and admiring immorality, worldly fashion, obscene videos, and the evils that are practiced all around. Personal Bible reading helps too.

No wonder the Psalmist prayed, "Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law" (Psalm 119:18). Look unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith.

🙏🙏Prayer: Lord, I surrender my eyes to You. Help me to look at only the things that are pleasing to You.
