This Unfair World
"A Jewish document written a few decades after Hebrews, around A.D. 100, contains a prayer: "All this I have spoken before you,
O Lord, because you have said that it was for us that you created this world. And now, O Lord, behold, these nations, which are reputed as nothing, domineer over us and devour us. But we your people, whom you have called your first-born, only begotten, zealous for you, and most dear, have been given into their hands." James H. Charlesworth, ed., The Old Testament Pseudepigrapha, vol. I (Peabody, MA: Hendrickson Publishers, 1983), p. 536.
The readers of Hebrews probably felt something similar. If they were God's children, why were they going through such suffering?
Thus, Paul wrote Hebrews to strengthen the faith of the believers amid their trials. He reminded them (and us) that the promises of God will be fulfilled through Jesus, who is seated at the right hand of the Father, and who will soon take us home. In the meantime, Jesus mediates the Father's blessings to us. So, we need to hold fast to our faith until the end."
As a Christian, reading and analysing the above writing makes you think of so many things, especially how this world is troubled and turned upside down. It is true for a fact, and I know every believer her will bear with me that God actually created this world to be a perfect place to be inhabited by us, his children.
But then, sin found its way into our beautiful world and every bad thing that you can think of begun.
The world became unfair to both the privileged and less privileged but I guess its been more unfair and wicked to the less privileged.
Christ came, died for our sins and we were redeemed. But as time went on, people started forgetting about Christ's death and even made fun of it(they still do anyway). It's almost like a made up story now, the story of Christ.
However, there are many people who still have faith in this Christ and God have clinged unto his word so firmly. It's been like that since all those years after Christ's death.
But the unfortunate thing is that, most of the people who have chosen to follow God and do right are living very less enjoyable lives than the others who do not even care whether there's a God or not.
They(unbelievers) usually mock these believers for the path they've chosen. For the laws or rules they follow and for the simple fact that, they wouldn't do the "easy" things that can make them more comfortable in lives. However, these easy practices is seen by the believers as an abomination to God and therefore wouldn't want to do anything to disobey their God.
This is how it's always been and always will be till Christ comes.
It makes the world look unfair to those who have chosen Christ because from the looks of things, those who have chosen to live "free" lives are the ones who are really enjoying the happiness of this world. And this has drawn many Christians out of their faith and have made them just like the unbelievers.
Reading from the book of psalms, it says;
"psalm 73:1-28
1 Surely God is good to Israel,
to those who are pure in heart.
2 But as for me, my feet had almost slipped;
I had nearly lost my foothold.
3 For I envied the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 They have no struggles;
their bodies are healthy and strong.
5 They are free from common human burdens;
they are not plagued by human ills.
6 Therefore pride is their necklace;
they clothe themselves with violence.
7 From their callous hearts comes iniquity;...continue here
This clearly shows how the "wicked" continue to progress and prosper while the followers continue to live in fear, hardship, anguish and all sorts of unfortunate things you can think of.
But as you read further, you get to know that it doesn't always end well for unbelievers. There will be a time they wished they believed and followed Christ but it would be too late by then, too late.
This act will go on as long as the world thrives.
So I'm only here today to motivate the few of us who are trying to follow what Christ has said and not what the world says.
I'm here to tell you not to give up and give in to the many temptations of this world. Most of the easy ways of gaining things that can make us comfortable in this life(money especially) are usually dubious and are deemed as wrong in the eyes of the Lord.
I'm not here as anyone's judge but as someone's who's here to share the word of God as well as how i feel about it.
I'm very certain that we all know which side we are on amongst these two groups. I just pray we choose God, for He will give us the most important things we need in this life.
God bless you for reading this and May He be with us all 🌹✌🏽🙏🏾❤.
