Leave the envy
Proverbs 23:17
Do not envy sinners with your heart, but {live} always in the fear of the LORD.
Envy has a devastating effect on the health of those who suffer from this disease. It not only affects the emotional state of the person, but also his mental state.
Envy drags the heart towards pain or misery since the person does not possess the goods or qualities that another possesses, which leads to great sadness.
According to scientific studies, envy produces the following health effects:
Envy causes the immune system to weaken, causing infections, for example, in the respiratory tract. ... Headache, fatigue, tremors, dizziness, poor circulation or the inability to concentrate are other consequences of that anxiety that provokes envy.
The word of God teaches that the heart of the Christian cannot envy the goods or riches that sinners may possess. Certainly, there are people who are not Christians and live materially in good conditions, they have good houses, cars, businesses and other luxurious things.
The fact that a person who does not know God and is materially very prosperous cannot lead us to envy these people and even less to deny God, because people in the world can live materially better than some Christians.
The word teaches us not to be envious of these people. Let us avoid as much as possible getting mentally and emotionally ill due to envy. We have to learn to value what God has given us without having to compare ourselves to other people's assets.
The apostle Paul taught well that he had learned to live both in abundance and in scarcity. Paul was not saddened when he was in short supply, but said: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Let us not leave room for envy so as not to get sick, as happened with King Saul, when the women of Jerusalem shouted: "Saul has killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands."
This song aroused envy in Saul, who felt sad because he did not have the virtues and qualities that David had. This envy of Saul made him emotionally and psychologically ill so he planned the persecution and murder of David.
You have to understand that envy, as they say in the world, "envy kills." If we put aside this negative and destructive feeling, we will regain our health and learn to value and appreciate the successes and blessings that God gives to other people.
