Could All These People Be Wrong?

Right from the existence of man, there has always been a controversy, clash and misunderstanding between the majority and the minority. These sharp difference between the two became so outstanding it captured the attention of the secular world, even of government and politics.

This gave rise to the saying that "the minority will have their say, while the majority will have their way" which implies that the majority wins and carries the vote. It then takes the God of justice and truth who stands on the righteous side, though they may be the minority, to defend and vindicate them. This affirms the "man with God is majority".

But could all this people be wrong? The ten out of twelve spies who went to the land of canaan by the order of Moses - Num. 13:1-20. If we read from the bible text, you will notice that Caleb's voice was alone in the midst of dissenting voices of ten vociferous men. But who could believe Caleb and his contrary report considering the person's of other ten men?

Remember that it took them days of journey, research information, observation, examination, and considerations before they arrived at their conclusion. So it is not a four day affair for to say that it is a hasty conclusion. It wasn't an assumption, they came with an evidence to prove.

How did Caleb come about with his own "shameful and miserable report"? Is that a zeal without knowledge on the part of Caleb? Joshua's view may be understandable even though it was not accepted. Does one blame him? After all he was second in command, but they forgot that many assistants had risen up against their masters in support of majority of the people even though on the wrong side.

To cut it short, they were not only wrong, but wrong to the fault. They received a shocking historical punishment ND judgement never heard of, since the inception of the world. The earth opened it's mouth and swallowed them and all that appertained to them.

Though, they were popular and can influence decisions, but popularity is not spirituality, neither does fame means faithfulness. They were wrong! When it comes to spiritual matters, who and who influences our decisions, both as individuals or as a group, church or fellowship?

To many leaders and churches, money fame, self, wealth education etc determines where the pendulum swings when it comes to decision making in the church even in in policy making or constitution drafting. But at last, only the counsel of God shall stand, the counsel that I have vowed to stand by, by his grace till I die. To be continued....

Thanks for reading through to the end
