DESTINY DESTROYING CHARACTER Part 2– THE LIFE OF KING HEROD

in HeartChurch3 years ago

“You are a container with a content sent to the continent.” Says the preacher.

When men began to spring up in the Bible days, there began to be an increased awareness of sin in its entirety, in such that the bible recorded God being displeased and “repented that he had made man on the earth.” Genesis 6:6

At that point, I’ll say in my own words that the world had become “The Den of Wickedness.” Then, the plans on bringing His only begotten son began!

Christ, as being just more than a container with a content was sent to all the continents of the world, to save mankind from this aforementioned wickedness that had erupted and engulfed the earth.

But can you now imagine, that he who came for this same purpose was plotted to be killed by Herod, because he (Herod) felt his throne was under threat when he heard the wise men talk of a certain ‘new’ king that was born in Bethlehem?

The human nature of pride began to come to play in Herod’s life because he felt he’s about to be dethroned, so he plotted the death of Christ.

In Part 1, I talked about the fact that "you are not doing anything about your future if you have not done anything about your character."

This statement seems to be more true than its literal meaning, as the future endeavors of great and renown men have been cut short, because of these destiny destroying traits. Herod’s live was no different from others like Pharaoh and Nebuchadnezzar. It was cut short because the real king must come to rule.

Then, another Herod rose to the throne which longed for a while to see the manifestation of Christ, because he (the new Herod) taught it was John the Baptist who he beheaded that has resurrected to come and rain again. Now, at this level, I’ll also love to point out that John’s head was chopped off by Herod because of this same Pride of life.

This same disease called pride began to be in play until a certain day came when the heavens were tired of this new Herod, and the bible put it this way.

21 On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. 22 They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.” 23 Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.Acts 12:21-23 NIV

I guess this deadly scenario had to come to play because God wanted that generation to still be in awareness that He doesn’t share His glory with any man. And Herod had to be the proper scape goat. Let’s see more on the consequences of pride.

CONSEQUENCES OF PRIDE

  1. Pride cuts your life’s vision short.
  2. Pride paves way for untimely death.
  3. Pride creates loop holes for the enemy.
  4. And also, pride deprives you of God’s hands upon your life.

You really wouldn’t want to be a victim of this disease! The bible made it a little more clear at this point, that

16the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 1John 2:16 NLT
