CHRISTIAN SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY | 10% to @heartchurch
Some individuals may think that Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) is a modern-day idea, but that isn't so. As a matter of fact, CSR has been in existence since the Old covenant days. I urge you to read Leviticus 19:9-10; you will see from the word of God that social responsibility had already been established in the law of sowing and reaping among the Israelite, and by extension children of Abraham in the faith.
When you take care of the poor, you are also doing it for yourself; that is why Psalm 41:1 let us know that anyone who does this, …the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. Be they financial, physical, spiritual, marital, or career troubles, the Lord will help you when you help the poor. When the widow of Zarephath I Kings 17 was giving her last meal to Elijah, she couldn't have known that she would be sparing herself and her family from starvation for the next three and a half years. The word of God let us know the Lord will preserve those who remember the less privilege and keep them alive.
So, if you want a long life, one of the good ways of obtaining it is by giving it to the less privileged. Matthew 6:1-4 lets us know how best to carry out our CSR projects before God. The Lord's way of doing CSR is such that we don't seek the praise of people like the people of the world, particularly when politicians want votes from the citizens. When we partake in charitable work and then invite the media to display it so peoples receive praise from the world, we are doing the irony of what the Lord Jesus wants.
According to Matthew 6:2, we lose our heavenly reward when we broadcast our charitable deeds just because we seek men's commendation. However, when we do our charitable deeds the way Jesus Christ wants us to do it, our reward is eternal. Remember the less privileged around you and make sure you put a smile on the face of at least one fellow in need today.
