God loves us with an everlasting love and He desires that our love for Him for one another should be patterned after the love with which He has loved us. To many; what matters in love is how much pleasure they can derive for themselves and how much emotions they can convey to one another. The Bible says that if we serve and obey the Lord; we will spend our days in prosperity and our years in good pleasure. While it is very true that God delights in the prosperity of His people; He seeks for us to work to align our passions with those things that are pleasing and acceptable in His sight.
No matter how inflamed your heart is with love for any person; if the working of such love is not aligned with God’s pleasure, you stand to be at a loss. God has created all things for His pleasure. If the pleasure you seek for yourself doesn’t find a place in the allowances of God’s Word which spells out His divine pleasure; no matter how much energy you expend, you will end up in futility.

It has to first of all, the pleasure it accrues God. Joseph was invited by Portiphar’s wife to enjoy sexual pleasure with her; the young man turned it down, because it wasn’t going to pleasurable to God. Anything we seek to have as pleasure for ourselves cannot be said to be real pleasure, if it is not first pleasurable to God. His pleasure is what translates into the prosperity and pleasure earmarked for our days and years on earth.
A very good way to assess the love we seek to express for one another is the eternal value content. God’s love for us is everlasting, it transcends beyond this realm. What is the coverage of your love exploits? Does it augur well for the eternity of your soul? When you seek to engage in fornication and adultery under the guise of love; do you know that such acts have no eternal value attached to them?
Fornicators and adulterers have no place in God. Let God be the One you seek to please in every demonstration of love. It’s not all about you. It’s all about God. Love should be made to draw others to God. When your purported love works to repel others away from God and the allowances of His Word, it is said to be worthless; because, God is love.
