Jesus’ Christ parable in Luke 19:13 was channelled to the disciples who He was getting ready for the Great Commission. The disciples were to occupy until the Lord return. Sometimes, we think the word ‘occupy’ imply ‘to keep busy’ alone; it is definitely more than that. We must not keep ourselves ‘busy’ doing that is important and add value.

To understand how vital of the Lord's command in Luke 19:13, we must look at the Joshua 13:1-6. The Lord examined the job of the Promised Land under Joshua’s control as below His expectation. Joshua became old and didn't have the required energy to lead the war against the inhabitants of the land which the Almighty God had given to the Israelite.

In the same wat, when the Lord Jesus said to us that we should go into the world and preach the gospel to every every body, He was really saying that we should occupy the territory so as to establish His kingdom on earth. It is far above keeping ourselves busy just for the sake of it. The important questions is, are we really occupying while awaiting the Lord Jesus’ second coming?.

Can we say we are occupying both the geographical and spiritual area and environment of the world?

Have we paused our efforts to occupy the four corners of the world like the early disciples of old?”

We must always remember what the Lord said to us that we should make disciples of all nations. We must not lose ground any more. We must be bold to go after the devil and recover the kingdoms that once belonged to the congregation of the children of God and the cathedrals that have been turned to dens of sin. Christian country that have become worldly must be revived and brought back to the light of the gospel of the Lord Jesus.

Sort:

The parable of Luke 19:13 is about a rich ruler who entrusts his servants differing amounts of money based on their ability. We're not all called to preach the gospel.

Today as parts of the body of Christ we need to use the spiritual gifts that have been given to us to help others.

(Romans 12:6-8 NIV) We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. {7} If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; {8} if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

(1 Corinthians 12:28-30 NIV) And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. {29} Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? {30} Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues ? Do all interpret?
