How to Use “MyEtherWallet (MEW)”

When you visit the MEW official website, you will see the initial screen like this.

To create a MEW account, scroll down and click "Get Started" in the blue box.

After that, you will find several pages that contain initial information related to the MEW system. Then on the last page, click "Get Started" to start creating an account.

Next will appear like this. In this display, there are 3 types of methods that you can use to log into your account later. In this post, I chose the "By Keystore File" method, you can also choose 2 other methods, namely "MEW Wallet" or "By Mnemonic Phrase". Because I use "By Keystore File" method, the next step is to fill in the "Password" (at least 9 characters).

After that it will appear like this and you only need to click "Download Keystore File". Then the file will be downloaded automatically to your device.

And now you have successfully created a MEW account.

After creating an account, now you need to log in to view your MEW account. All you have to do is return to the home page of the MEW website and select “Access My Wallet” in the green box. Then a display like that will appear and click on the "Software".

Next will appear like this. Use the login method you chose when registering earlier. In my case, I use "Keystore File". And click "Continue". Then the device will automatically open your file manager. And choose the keystore file that you downloaded when registering earlier.

After that, the display will change to something like this. Please enter your password and click "Access Wallet".

Now you have successfully logged in and you will see a "Dashboard" display of your account like that. This is the main page that displays various information, such as your wallet address, your balance, the tokens you have and other main features. To make a deposit, you can send a number of tokens to the wallet address contained in your MEW account or you can buy them using your credit card. There are 3 main features that you will use frequently, namely the "Send", "Swap" and "+ Custom Tokens" features. The "+ Custom Tokens" feature is a feature to add certain tokens that are not in MEW. You can find this feature on the right side of the page (I've circled it in red).

After clicking "+ Custom Tokens", a display like that will appear. You need to enter the “Token Contract Address”, “Token Symbol”, and the “Decimals”. Click "Save". Then the token will appear on your dashboard.

The next feature is "Send". This feature can be found on the left side of the page. When you click "Send" it will appear like this. This is a feature that you can use to send tokens to other addresses.

On the left side of the page there is also a "Swap" feature. When you click "Swap" then you will see a screen like this. This feature serves to exchange various tokens available on MEW. This feature is very helpful for your transactions.

There are also features about DApps that you can find when you click "Dapps" on the left side of the page. Like in the display. In the DApps feature you can also use MEW on the DeFi protocol. For example, I will choose one of the Defi Protocols, namely AAVE.

When you have clicked "AAVE", then a screen will appear like that. In this screen, you can make a "Deposit" or "Borrow".

If you click "Deposit", a screen will appear for selecting token.

When you click "Borrowings" it will display something like this.

And if you want to make a loan, then you click "Borrow" and then a screen will appear to select token.

MEW can also be accessed using MetaMask. You simply install the Google Chrome Metamask extension, create an account, then open your MEW and click “Connect to MetaMask”. In addition, MEW can also be accessed using the Ledger Nano S and TRAZOR hardware by storing private keys on the hardware.
