[SEASON 2] Steemit Crypto Academy Week 9 Homework Post for @alphafx | Blockchain Comparison [Stellar (XLM) vs Ripple (XRP)]

in SteemitCryptoAcademy3 years ago (edited)

Hey Guys..!!
Meet again with me Wahyu Nahrul on the other Steemit Crypto Academy homework.
Today I will be working on homework given by one of our new professors @alphafx.

The topic of discussion that will be discussed on this homework is comparing 2 different blockchains. The blockchains that will be the topic of my discussion this time are Stellar (XLM) and Ripple (XRP).

Project Concept From Each Blockchain

Ripple

Ripple is a blockchain that was originally called RipplePay and was launched in 2004, initially RipplePay was created to provide a cheap and fast money transfer service to all corners of the world. Because at that time the largest online money transfer system held by PayPal charged huge transaction fees, which made many people spend more money to make transactions on PayPal. That is why RipplePay was created as an alternative to the transaction fee problem.

Then in 2012, RipplePay was taken over by a company called Ripple Labs, this company created a new system in Ripple and issued a new Cryptocurrency that is currently owned by Ripple, namely XRP. In order for XRP to run smoothly, the founder of Ripple created a large book called XRP Ledger which will become a Blockchain where the XRP coin will run and grow.

Although Ripple was taken over by Ripple Labs in 2012, Ripple's goals were no different from the original concept. Ripple aims to provide a global transaction experience by relying on the speed and low cost of fees offered by the Ripple Blockchain. Even at this time, Ripple is targeting to cooperate with financial institutions around the world, this is very inversely proportional to as we know that cryptocurrency has always been the enemy of financial institutions. And now Ripple has successfully hooked many financial institutions around the world to work together in conducting financial transactions.

Stellar

Stellar is a Blockchain that is the "brother" of Ripple. Why can I say that? The inventor of Stellar is the former co-founder of Ripple named Jed McCaleb. After 2 years of launching Ripple, Jed McCaleb decided to leave the top ranks of Ripple, he decided to create a new project that would help people who do not have a bank account to keep making transactions abroad at low fees and of course with fast transaction speeds. keep it affordable.

This is in contrast to Ripple which targets financial institutions as partners, Stellar wants to help ordinary people with all the uniqueness of the Stellar Blockchain and he really wants to remove "third parties" from all transaction processes in Stellar, so fees will be charged. for each transaction, it will be much cheaper than Ripple.

I mentioned earlier that Stellar is the "Brother" of Ripple, but many others prefer to call Stellar the "Son" of Bitcoin and Ripple. This is because Stellar is an amalgamation of the two blockchains, Stellar is a decentralized blockchain, which means that its ownership of its coin called XLM is public and it has the same speed and transaction fees as Ripple.

Team From Each Blockchain Project

Ripple

The Ripple blockchain was originally led by three inventors, namely: Jed McCaleb, and David Schwartz. They are the ones who make the TRX Ledger which becomes the Blockchain where the Ripple coin called TRX can run by having a very new blockchain system and is its own Blockchain. After Jed McCaleb's departure from the Ripple team, David Schwartz is now assisted by several friends who have various experiences in the world of cryptocurrency. The number of members of the Ripple leadership is 8 people which you can see in the picture below.

Stellar

After leaving the Ripple project, Jed McCaleb again formed a team to create his latest blockchain project, Stellar, he hooked up 10 other people who had one vision, namely to help people transact around the world with the various facilities provided. In total there are 11 people who are leaders in this Stellar Blockchain project, you can see it in the picture below.

Comparing the Current Circumstances Between Ripple (XRP) and Stellar (XLM)

1. Current Ratings and Prices

The XRP ranking is currently included in the Top 5 Cryptocurrency which is precisely at number 4, this makes XRP above XLM which is only in the Top 15 Cryptocurrency which is precisely at number 13.

As for the price of each XRP coin, it is still superior at $1.81 while XLM is at $0.6299.

2. All Time High (ATH)

The comparison of the highest price ever achieved by these two coins is also quite different, XRP has touched a price of $3.84 while XLM has only touched a price of $0.9381.

3. All Time Low (ATL)

Meanwhile, the lowest price for these two coins is not too far away, the lowest price of XRP is $0.002802 while the XLM coin is $0.001227.

4. Percentage of Price Increase

You can see the percentage comparison of the increase in the two coins from each blockchain in the chart below. XRP is far superior to XLM, where the percentage of the panic price of XRP is 297.55% while XLM is at a percentage of 55.31%.

5. Exchanges

To be able to get these two cryptocurrencies, you can choose several exchange options that have been listed by each Blockchain on their official website. For XRP they put the Top 10 Exchanges that market XRP in their market. Stellar (XLM) also includes the Top 10 Exchanges that include XLM in their market. You can see all these exchanges in the image below.

6. Transaction Fee

For transaction fees, each coin has a different fee, and it all depends on the exchange that provides it. As in this example, I take Bittrex as an exchange that will compare the transaction fees of these two coins.

For XRP coins on Bittrex, there is a fee of 1.00 XRP per transaction, if we refer to the current XRP price which is at $1.81, then the transaction fee charged for each transaction is $1.81.

Unlike XLM, the transaction fee charged by it is not as much as XRP, the transaction fee for XLM on Bittrex is 0.05 XLM, if we refer to the current XLM price which is $0.6299, the transaction fee charged for each transaction is only $0.031495.

Last Word (Conclusion)

Those are some of the comparisons I got from the two cryptocurrencies. From my explanation above, we can conclude that XRP has more power than XLM, starting from the current price, and the All Time High and All Time Low XRP prices are far superior to XLM. Then from the percentage increase in price for now XRP is also far in the lead compared to XLM. This proves that the XRP Blockchain is much stronger and ready to serve its users compared to XLM.

However, if we look at transaction fees, then XLM is far superior to XRP, with fees that are not up to $0.5 making XLM perhaps more attractive to users who require large amounts of cryptocurrency transactions and frequent times.

I apologize if there are still many mistakes that you can get when reading my explanation earlier, I would be very grateful if you told me in the comments column below.

Thank you for reading my blog, hope it will be useful for all of you. 😁

Hey, I like how you arranged your work, a good format. But you need to read the lecture again, I asked for comparisons on the blockchain, not tokens. Moving forward, your work on the blockchains was commendable, all you lacked was the comparison.

Scoring

AspectScoreRemark
Structural Presentation1.5well arranged
Adherence to instruction1.5all rules followed
Quality of content2.5Nice work, but needed more on the detailed comparisons
originality1.5Post is not plagiarized, a unique cover image too, nice job.
TOTAL7Nice work, I would have loved to see side by side comparisons on features. see you next week

Thanks for participating

Thank you so much for the feedback professor
I'll make another good article next week with your feedback 😁
