Steemit Crypto Academy Week 13: Homework Post for Crypto professor @yousafharoonkhan | Steemit Decentralized social media, Centralization and Decentralization social media
Hello, Steemians. It's another precious time for me to visit the Steemit crypto academy to learn from the crypto professor @yousafharoonkhan. The lecture is all about decentralized and centralized social media platforms. I will be working on the task associated with this lecture.
Question (1. Write the definition of Decentralized and Centralized Social Media Platforms in your own words.Explain in your own words the difference between decentralization and centralization Social Media Platforms (answer should related Social Media Platforms . (answer must be written in own words, copy paste or from other source copy will be not accepted)
Decentralized social media platform
Decentralized social media platform is the type of social media platform that is built using the blockchain technology and made decentralized to allow users on the platform to write, blog, and share contents without limit. In addition, decentralized social media platform has no central authority and this puts the users in charge of their accounts to have a total control over it. A decentralized social media platform example is Steemit where users can blog limitlessly and also earn money for their works.
Centralized social media platform
A centralized social media platform types are the likes of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and so on where all activities on the platform are controlled by the central authority of the platform and on a platform like this, the users that signed up can only make posts in accordance with the rules and regulations of the platform. In addition, users don't have total freedom to blog everything based on their preferences but rather comply with the rules of the centralized social media platform and failure to comply can lead to termination of the user's account.
Decentralized and Centralized social media platforms' differences
Control: Decentralized social media platforms with its blockchain based decentralized technology allow its subscribers to be in control of their accounts and decide on whatever changes they wish to make while Centralized social media platform controls the activities of subscribers on the platform and subscribers can only make blogs that work in line with the rules and regulations of the centralized social media platform.
Ownership: Ownership on decentralized social media platform is self (users own their accounts), taking Steemit for example, once a user created an account then they owned it even Steemit Inc. can terminate the account while Centralized social media platform remains the owner of all created accounts and can decide to terminate any account as they might wish to.
Authority: Decentralized social media has no central authority while Centralized social media has a central authority that controls all the activities on the platform.
Transparency: There is efficient transparency apparent in decentralized social media platform while centralized has less transparency since activities are controlled from a central authority.
Question (2. Which One is The Future of Social media ? Decentralized or centralized Social media.(answer must be written in own words).
The future of social media belongs to decentralized social media platform. One of the few things to consider is that, everyone likes a situation whereby they can be in control to make decisions on their own and decentralized social media platform has given this to its users and more adoptions is to be expected in the nearest future although there are a few issues of complexity of using decentralized social media platforms at the moment but users are adjusting.
And security is another feature that gives a decentralized social media platform the strength to own the future as it's more secured than a centralized social media platform. Decentralization is now been employed in so many areas today as seen in some exchanges that launches own decentralized platform that works differently from their existing centralized exchange. Definitely, many social media platforms would arise sooner and I am confident that the future belongs to decentralized social media platforms.
Question (3. How steemit decentralization social media is best than Twitter and Facebook.(answer must be written in own words).
Quality of Content: Steemit is so concerned about original and educative contents and this has helped to improve many users in the aspect of putting their brain to work and in the process preserve value for original content writers so that nobody can just steal away their original work. Preservation of users' original content is not seen in Facebook and Twitter where anyone can copy and paste any content to present as theirs which is quite frustrating to original content owners. So Steemit preserve value for original content owners and encourage everyone to improve to present original contents.
Monetization: On Steemit, users earn by creating original contents that is free from plagiarism, and this is not seen on Facebook and Twitter even if you posted a hundred times in a day, you don't earn a dime. Steemit monetize your blogging on the platform which is sufficient for a lot of people to take care of their finances.
Decentralization: Steemit allows its users to be in total control of their account without taking order from any central authority while Facebook and Twitter is operated by the rules and regulations of central authority.
Security: Steemit accounts are secured as the users have the keys to their accounts and that makes it difficult for someone without your account keys to attack you while Twitter and Facebook are prone to hacking because users on the platform create accounts with ordinary password.
Question (4. What do you say? How do Steemit social media change the lives of millions of its users?(answer must be written in own words)
Steemit is a global decentralized social media platform that has been existing since July 2016 and as since been changing millions of lives all over the world through rewards for quality contents and learning that put the brain to work.
Rewards on Steemit
Steemit has changed so many lives by giving rewards to their contents on the platform. Before Steemit came into existence, the earliest centralized social media platforms only allow users to just have fun by posting on their platforms and view other people's work for fun but that was changed on Steemit's arrival whereby users create original contents and receive upvotes from other users on Steemit and the Steemit official accounts (steemcurators). This upvotes gives value to the posts and rewards the original writers with Steem, SBD and TRX, these rewards has changed the life of millions of people out there as some depend solely on the rewards to cater for their families and they have been set free financially.
Learning from Steemit
Steemit don't just give rewards to users alone but it has made millions of lives to be more productive as users now invest their time to make research before posting to the platform and at the same time learn from educative/original contents of other users. Overall, Steemit also improve productivity of users which has seen so many lives take a new divine dimension by the positive impact felt on the platform.
Question (5. How can we make money with Steemit's decentralized social media.(write your own experience)
- Creating Content.
- Curation.
- Participating in contests.
- Investment in Steem.
Each of the listed above would be discussed below;
Creating Content: One of the means one can make money on Steemit is by creating content and what are contents on Steemit? Contents are a form of article originally created and posted to a community by a user which must be educative enough to teach other community members some lessons. Great contents receive upvotes that is valued in Steem, SBD and TRX which could be converted to fiat currency when the post pays out and thereby earn some cool cash for the person that created the original content.
Curation: Money can also be made on Steemit by upvoting other people's original contents on the platform and a user's Steem power is the factor that makes this possible. A user earn back half of their curation value on a post when it pays out.
Participating in Contests: Contests are sometimes organized on different communities on Steemit and a user can join any of them to make an entry which can make them one of the winners and thereby make money through that.
Investing in Steem: Another great way to earn on Steemit is by investing one's liquid Steem on the platform by locking it up through powering up. Liquid Steem can be spent anytime but if a user consider powering up the liquid Steem, that will help them lock it and also preserve value for the Steem. Users can use this feature to preserve value for their Steem till its market goes bullish thereby earning reasonable profits also the powered up Steem would help the user to earn more from curation since Steem power is key to curation reward.

- I will be selecting Steemit at the top of my profile's page, on the next interface I am going to select the inverted Triangle icon in the "All posts" section and go down the page to click on "Explore communities". On the next page, click on "Create a community".

- I will now put the name of the community and what is all about and click "Next". Copy and save my community's key and click the box that I have the key saved then click "Create community".

- Now to make payment. Click Ok to make the 3 Steem payment for the community creation. Insert my password to confirm the transaction and "Sign in". And the community is created and next now is to click "Get started" to see my community.

Conclusion
The complexity that users experience in the use of decentralized platforms is getting reduced and we are to see many adoptions very soon which gives a certainty that decentralized social media platforms would dominate the social media in the future as Steemit has opened the way.
