The idea of this week's contest is very interesting and entertaining. Regardless of the fact that am having a busy schedule with my tertiary examinations this period, I couldn't wait to participate in this contest. For the 4th week of the season 6 Steemit Engagement Challenge, the crypto academy has presented an interesting topic for discussion titled Internet of Things and the Blockchain by @crypto-academy.


Two key concepts are discussed and conflated here, and they include Blockchain Technology, and the Internet of Things. I guess you might be wondering why these two concepts are being collectively discussed, as well as what are the connections between them.

Blockchain as we have always regarded it is simply a decentralized and immutable ledger for storing data. The Internet of Things (IoT) on the other hand, is a rapidly expanding network of interconnected devices and systems.
Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize it, providing a secure and decentralized platform for data storage and sharing. All of these devices are connected to the internet, allowing them to share data, and this is usually accomplished using wireless technology such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular networks, depending on the application.

Each device also needs its own dedicated software, whereby data collected from this device is sent to a central server where it can be analyzed and processed. This software is typically programmed to send out alerts when something important happens. For example, an alarm system might be programmed to notify the owner when an intruder is detected.

A user interface is also required to allow users to interact with the data and control the devices. This could range from a website or mobile app to dedicated hardware such as a thermostat or remote control.

IoT devices collect useful data with the help of various existing technologies and then autonomously flow the data between other devices. While, Blockchain provides more security, transparency, and decentralization around the IoT systems.

When combined, they create a symbiotic relationship that can change the way we interact with the world around us. Leveraging the decentralized nature of blockchain and the connectedness of IoT, it is possible to create innovative solutions to everyday problems

Yes you are right it will improve security but it will also make it faster and reliable. More people will trust those IoT projects that are based on Blockchain.

The beauty of blockchain is decentralization which will benefit a lot in gaining the trust of people in the IoT project. Because trusting on third party is risky and if there is no third party mean the project is not centralized, the project will get more users.

Riddle&Code is a blockchain-based project that is designed to bring Internet of Things (IoT) devices onto the blockchain.

I am reading about this project for the first time. It seems interesting. I will read complete detail on it today and will share my view later.

One of the good use case of the blockchain in IoT is the decentralized storage of data like you put it in your post and that ensures that there is optimum security for users' data on those devices. Another thing is that the system of IoT keeps working everytime with the blockchain since the nodes are decentralized and don't rely on a single server.
