Steemit is a decentralized blockchain that works with proof of brains. This concept means authors are being rewarded based on the quality of content they produce. Steemit came into existence in 2016 and has grown immensely well. Since everything comes with its terms, I wish to talk about some as @sapwood has taken us through. I am grateful for his class though.

What is PoB?

Before we came to PoB, we have to understand what SP means. SP means Steem Power. This helps influence how high you can curate content on the steemit blockchain. PoB deals with content creation but there is also an aspect that deals with rewarding. Those with higher SP are those who vote on these contents and they also get a reward for that.

PoB in full terms means Proof of Brain. This concept means, people on this social media blockchain are rewarded based on what they produced. The quality of work they produce in the ecosystem is what helps run it smoothly. PoB doesn’t only deal with only content creating, we have curation. That’s where content is rewarded from a reward pool. The reward pool with a percentage of 100% is made up of 65% of PoB. With this 65% reward, it is used to help support authors for the good works and also exposes those content to other steemians.

So basically, PoB is made up of rewarding of good and quality content from a reward pool, stack holders with higher SP who help in curating these contents, and authors who use their capable minds to gain influence through their contents.
PoB acknowledges the human effort by rewarding it. When it comes to PoB, they use the term curation. Curation is the act of upvoting content using the upvote button. Curation is a way authors are rewarded in the steemit blockchain.

Curators upvotes post based on their own discretion. They vote when they think that content deserves that reward. Any time a curator votes on a post, they lose 2% of their voting power. Each user is entailed to 100% voting power. After losing this 2% every time you vote, it only refills 20% in the day.

Curation comes into two folds. The upvote being what gives the author the reward which means a reward is being moved from the reward pool to the author. Another is the downvote whereby reward is removed from the author into the reward pool. Downvotes happen either when the content is plagiarized or other issues. Upvotes are 4 times larger than downvotes. An upvote depleting at 2%, upvotes deplete at a rate of 8%.

Curators also get a reward for their services. When a post of an author pays out, there is a 50% 50% share between authors and curators. Curators’ share is then shared amongst them based on the power of their votes on that post. Curation of posts is dependent on the days old of a post. A post runs for 7 days before it pays out. When a post is being made the time range for voting is between 5 minutes of when the post was made and 6 days 12 hours old of the post. When a curator upvotes a post outside this range, they lose a percentage of their voting power. Also, voting in the first 5 minutes of a posts makes you lose a percentage of curator’s reward.

What are the benefits of building SP?

We build our SPs by powering up. Powering up is when an author converts STEEM into STEEM POWER. SP is your vote power. The percentage of vote you give on a post; you get rewarded for it. Having a higher SP shows that anytime you upvote a post and the post payout, you have a percentage of reward in that post. We call that the curator’s reward. So, developing or investing in your SP is a great way to gain through the curator’s reward. It’s a good way because it helps the blockchain function effectively and also helps you the curator gain some reward from other people’s work of art.

How do you explain self-upvote as a good or bad social behavior & why?

I don’t see any problem wrong with an author upvoting his or her content. We have self-motivation. People see the need for themselves to give their work thumbs up before others can see the greatness in it. When there is a vote on a post, you become suspicious as to how good it is. With this, you view to read to kill curiosity. This can be a better way for authors to get people to read their posts. If you don’t upvote your own post, how do you expect someone who knows nothing about it to upvote it? I think it’s a good act in the steemit blockchain ecosystem.

What are the different tokens do you earn by socializing in Steem Blockchain?

The steemit blockchain deals with Steem, SBD, SP and Tron. SBD and SP are converted to liquid STEEM when trading is to be done. Tron comes in when there was an integration between Steemit and Tron. this gave authors the chance to gain both steem and Tron on their posts. The ratio of Tron gained from a post is in the ratio 1:1 to SP. The number of SP gained equals the number of Tron gained.

Conclusion.
Steemit is a decentralized social media blockchain which is doing well in rewarding its followers. Since the birth of Steemit there have been investors and the number of witness grow everyday. This show its here to stay and I am glad I am part of the family.
