Before I begin to talk about about the Litecoin, let us refresh our memory on what Altcoins are

WHAT IS AN ALTCOIN?

Altcoin is simply any cryptocurrency that is not Bitcoin, and there are over 5, 000 altcoins; it is therefore safe to say that altcoins make up estimately 40% of the total crypto market.

With the acronym LTC, was launched in October 2011 by Charlie Lee (a former Google engineer), it is a peer to peer cryptocurrency and it was launched under the MIT/X11 as an open source software.

Litecoin is nearly identical to Bitcoin in technical details and Charlie Lee called it the "Lite version of Bitcoin" during its announcement.

In Nigeria I first heard about LTC when it was #19, 000 ($49.93) that was back in 2013 when I joined the crypto trading as a novice and I thought it was expensive then or it wouldn't grow anymore than that but today, Litecoin is worth a whopping #103, 598 ($266.56) and it is in the number 9th spot in ranking with a Market Cap of about $2,185,433,000,335 .

ADVANTAGES OF LITECOIN

Litecoin is decentralized money, free from censorship and open to all - https://litecoin.com/en

• Being able to mine a coin in 2.5 minutes, it means Litecoin can produce a higher number of coins in a short time.

• Litecoin confirm transactions faster than some altcoins (even faster than BTC)

• In Litecoin proof of work algorithm, it uses scrypt.

• It has a very low transaction fee.

DISADVANTAGES OF LITECOIN

• According to online science the main drawback of LTC is it's absolute anonymity, which creates a bad image for the coin as it is used for illegal things in DarkNet.
