Good day steemians, and a special greetings to our professor @wahyunahrul, Today i will be writing on airdrop giveaway in cryptocurrency

1) What do you understand by airdrop in cryptocurrency?

Airdrop in cryptocurrency is just like free money, is a technique where start up cryptocurrency company distributes their coins to wallet holders on a popular blockchain in order to make the coin to be widely known by the public, moreover participants may need to perform some promotional exchange service for the cryptocurrency company such as writing a post about the cryptocurrency and sharing it on social medias like Facebook, Twitter, etc.

2) How can we know about an airdrop event so that we can participate?
We can know about airdrop events on popular exchanges like Binance or hold popular based tokens such as Ethereum, Eos, Bitcoin because many projects are built on it also joining channels on telegram and surfing the internet on popular crypto sites to hear about new airdrops.

Airdrops events are mostly held on popular exchanges such as Binance which supports a lot of projects and also seems trusted for investors and on popular sites you can see such airdrop advertising such as Coinmarket cap.com, Airdroppers.io, Airdropland etc.

4)Are all airdrop events free from scams otherwise, how can we avoid the scam.
Most airdrop events are scam and the best way to avoid airdrop scams is to conduct a thorough research on the cryptocurrency and a review about the cryptocurrency company’s whitepaper or their website to verify if it is legitimate.
Furthermore, in case of filling any document to participate in any airdrop event avoid adding of private keys and use a hardware wallet address to secure your coins.

No i have not participated in any crytpocurrrency airdrop event but i have heard of Zerogoki(REI)

One example of a fraudulent airdrop : is CORBIT, participants are to participate by following their twitter, telegram channels and inputting your eth address but within a short period of time in which 80,000 participants joined, the website of corbit vanished into thin air with no information or trace about them till today.

click on it and click join airdrop below at the right hand corner to register

Conclusion
Airdrop enables the start ups cryptocurrency company to become widely known which makes the cryptocurrency to be widely distributed and traded when listed on exchanges.
