Steemit Crypto Academy Season3 week6 Satoshi Nakamoto Wei Dai Crypto Units of Measurements by @nikoyana.png

Good day steemians and I welcome everyone to my humble post for this new week 6 lectures taught by professor @Awesononso

1)Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?

Satoshi Nakamoto is a Japanese name and it is the anonymous name known by all for the individual or group behind the creation of bitcoin, from the time of creation of bitcoin till now nobody knows about the real identity of Satoshi whether male, female or group of people, location, occupation infact everything about Satoshi remains a mystery.
Satoshi Nakamoto's name was doubted because of its perfect use of english and many geared their thought that satoshi might be an english man.

Early 2008/2009 bitcoin whitepaper was launched and two years later the developer vanished into thin air with no trace but before then Satoshi was exchanging emails with other developers to develop the network more until Satoshi became inactive and stop sending emails in the year 2011.
Many individuals have been identified as Satoshi Nakamoto but with time it seems there is no strong proof for that claim.

Satoshi Nakamoto holds about 1,000,000 of crypto which equals 5% of bitcoin circulation supply which is worth about billions of dollars now and also made the first ever transaction on the bitcoin network.

2)Write on two claims/theories of Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity.

a) Hal Finney was an active member of cypher punk (ensures anonymous network for messaging, encoding contracts without revealing the identity of the sender and overcoming government control and regulations), Hal Finney is also the main author of PGP 2.0 creator of reusable proof of work the network on which bitcoin was created, he attended California Institute of Technology.

Hal Finney was suspected because he lived in the same neighborhood with a Californian man called Dorian Prentice Satoshi Nakamoto and Hal was the first person to receive transaction on the bitcoin network from the anonymous Satoshi, so people thought Hal was the real brain behind the bitcoin network and used his neighbor’s name in order to shift people’s attention from him.

Moreover, the time that Hal was diagnosed with a disease in 2009 but retired in 2011 as a result of the disease weighing him down, it was that same 2011 that Satoshi also disappeared so with these proof people thought Hal was the anonymous Satoshi Nakamoto.
Hal was the first ever person to show interest in the Satoshi Nakamoto peer to peer system.
Hal Finney died on 28 August 2014.

b) Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto is a Japanese American man who lives in California and was reported by an article in 2014 to be the anonymous Satoshi Nakamoto in which he denied of not knowing anything about bitcoin but rather somebody used his name in order to frame him.

Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto was said to be a private person and most of his emails are said to be private according to his family, Dorian also changed his name some years back to Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto all these makes him a suspect.
Nakamoto was laid off twice in early 1990’s and turned libertarian.
Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto works for classified military projects for some time and later resigned around 2001, from 2001 onwards no one knew what he was doing for a living which made people to assume he was using from that period to develop his bitcoin project.

3) Who is Wei Dai?

Wei Dai is a computer engineer who developed the crypto +++ and invented the b-money cryptocurrency system, Wei Dai graduated from the university of Washington with a degree in computer science.
Wei Dai was the first person to be contacted by Satoshi Nakamoto when he was developing bitcoin which made him to be a prime suspect.
The smallest unit of ether was named after him.

4) What is the current value of bitcoin on the day you are performing this task? Calculate the USD value of one Satoshi of the current value. (Show full working into 3 s.f).

               SOLUTION

Screenshot (149).png

Bitcoin =$38954.71
1 satoshi =1/100000000* 1BTC

1BTC =$38954.71
Therefore 1 satoshi =1/100000000*38954.71
1 satoshi =$0.0003895471
1 satoshi =$0.000390(3 s.f)

5) What is the current value of Ether on the day you are performing this task? Calculate the USD value of one GWEI of the current value. (Show full working and to 3 s.f).

                                    SOLUTION

Screenshot (150).png

1 GWEI = 1/1000000000 * 1ETHER

1ETHER=$2519.97
Therefore 1 GWEI =1/1000000000*2519.97

1GWEI=$0.00000251997
1GWEI=$0.00000252(3 s.f)

6) Transfer 0.001 steem to an account. Then send 0.0001 steem show what happens and state why.
(Screenshots with username tag)

Transfering 0.01 steem from nikoyana to okechukwu22
First we input the sender and receiver's usernames without @ then we input the amount and the memo then click next
steem1.jpg

Step 2 this page appears then i click ok
steem12.jpg

We now input our private active key inorder to approve the transaction

steem8.jfif

Transferring 0.0001 steem from nikoyana to okechukwu22

steem3.jfif

The above image shows only 3 digit place of numbers can be sent on the steem blockchain, that is why it showed only 3 digits of precision and the next button did not appear which shows that the transaction cannot be processed.

Conclusion

People have opinions that satoshi disappearance was a better way for the development of bitcoin, in a sense that had satoshi not disappeared government would have controlled and manipulated the bitcoin network through satoshi and moreover with these units of measurements for crypto one can be able to calculate the value of crypto in its possesion.

  • From your wallet, you did not complete the transfer of 0.001 Steem.

  • You really should have mentioned at least one identity theory different from the ones in the lesson.

  • There is still some necessary info missing on the topic.

Thanks again as we anticipate your participation in the next class.
