You have defined airdrop in a simple way that one can easily understand. One thing is certain about airdrop, it is a marketing strategy, more like letting the populace to be aware of such project and as well give them a taste of the coin which might serve as enticement or a lure.

So many of them are scam while few are genuine but it takes efforts to identify genuine ones.
