Crypto Academy Week 6 Homework Post for [@sapwood]
Hi everyone and welcome to my homework post for week 6. The lecture was delivered by Professor @sapwood that is an outstanding lecturer. I am honored to be part of this lecture.
Topic #1.
Self-voting is not restricted on steem blockchain. However, it is not deemed to be good practice. An author can never judge his content wrong. As the curation is the way to put the good content on trending list, so when any content is curated, it means it is being valued in terms of good content or bad content. Good content get upvote while harmful content is down-voted by the curators. So when anybody upvote his own content, he will never be in good position to judge his own content. When other readers judge the content as good and give upvote to content, it helps in getting content in trending view. If a user has self-voted his own post and no other person has curated the content, then self-upvote has no significant impact on post and curation rewards will also be very low. Community curation always helps the content to grow and healthy curation reward will be given to the curators.
On the other hand, when a user upvote others content by reading it and judging the content as good, then he may get good curation rewards as other community members will also upvote good content and at the maturity of post, if the post has gained multiple upvotes then the curation reward will be better than self-vote.
This screenshot is about my self-vote. My SP is 0.01 and I will receive curation same amount as my vote.
This screenshot is about my upvote on others content and you can see more curation reward than my upvote value. Hence, it is clear that upvoting others content gives better rewards than self-vote.
Topic 2. Isolated Judgment and Community judgment.
Isolated judgment can be described as a term used for separate judgment or self –judgment apart from the community. It means when a user upvotes any content without reading and valuing the content without any consideration, it comes in isolated judgment. When anyone judges content on the basis of self interests and does not take into consideration the community liking, it will be called isolated judgment.
When any content is judged according to the judgment of community, it is called community judgment. Where many curators have judged the content as high level content and upvoted it, the content will go in trending list and user should read and judge it accordingly. Such content should be upvoted and in such case curation reward will be better as compared to isolated judgment. Thus treding posts are the better community judged posts and such posts should be curated by any user.
With the help of community judgment, a users vote worth is also increased and the curation rewards will also be better as compared to self-voting or isolated judgment.
This screenshot shows that the content has been judged by community as high level content. This screenshot is taken before I upvoted the post. Its amount is 327.60$. Now let's see what happens when I upvote on this content.
Now you can see my upvote has a huge impact on this content. Its amount has gone up to $343.63 and it is great. This is what we should call community judgment.
You can see a huge difference, oh my God, my upvote value is only 0.01$ and here due to community judgment, my upvote has made difference of $ 16.03 on this post. This is absolutely fantastic. I am shocked. Are you?
Topic 3.
Here is the screenshot of steemworld.org showing my SP that is 0.01.
Now I will show the impact of my upvote on a post with value less than $50 and before age of 6 days and 12 hours.
Its value is $34.66 before my upvote. Next is the screenshot after my upvote.
Now its value has increased to $35.09. While my upvote value is only 0.01. This is how community judgment impacts. So the difference is (35.09 - 34.66)= $0.43
Now we will calculate curation reward of my upvote with the help of formula.
PCreward = 1/2 * √PT * (√P1 - √P0)∆t
Where PT = Post payout after at the end of 7 days.
P1 = Post payout after upvote
P0 = Post payout before upvote
∆t = 1, for I, votes after 5mins.
Therefore, PCreward = 1/2 * √35.09 * (√35.09 - √34.66) = $0.10
My expected curation reward will be $0.10 that is 10 times more than my vote power.
Now I will screenshot of a post more than$100 value and less than 6 days 12 hours of age.
This screenshot is taken before my upvote. It value is $327.60 with 269 upvotes. Next screenshot is taken after my upvote. Let's see impact of my upvote.
Its value has gone up $343.63 with 270 upvotes and my upvote added $16.03 to value of the post. It is community judgment impact. Great, simply outstanding. I noticed it for first time. Thanks to Professor @sapwood.
Now we will calculate my expected curation reward after payout.
PCreward = 1/2 * √PT * (√P1 - √P0)∆t
Where PT = Post payout after at the end of 7 days.
P1 = Post payout after upvote
P0 = Post payout before upvote
∆t = 1, for I, votes after 5mins.
Therefore, PCreward = 1/2 * √343.63 * (√343.63- √327.60) = $4.05
So, according to my calculations, my expected curation reward will be $4.05. Unbelievable.
Please help me Professor @sapwood, I am still shocked. Is my calculation right?
Conclusion.
If my calculations are right, so I will love to upvote trending posts in the future. It has a huge impact. Community judgment is the best way to send any content in trending mode and also a very handy way to earn good curation rewards.
I have tried my best and illustrated with screenshots, still there is space for errors. Please rectify me and any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in anticipation.
