Luego de la lectura y una documentación propia sobre el tema: All You Need to Know About Bitcoin Network, puedo responder las preguntas planteadas en la asignación 3 de esta semana.

After reading and a documentation of my own on the topic: All You Need to Know About Bitcoin Network, i can answer the questions posed in this week's assignment 3.

Red Segwit Bitcoin o Red Legacy Bitcoin, ¿cuál prefiere y por qué?

Para poder tomar esta decisión, tuve que leer y tener claro lo siguiente:

Segwit Bitcoin Network or Legacy Bitcoin Network, which do you prefer and why?

In order to make this decision, I had to read and be clear about the following:

Bitcoin: No es más que una de las primeras monedas digitales creada por el misterioso Satoshi Nakamoto y que trajo consigo grandes innovaciones en el área de la tecnología y social con un enorme impacto en nuestra época. Proporcionando un sistema basado en P2P, sin depender de un ente o institución central que supervise las transacciones, siendo un sistema que opera a un nivel descentralizado y en manos de los propios usuarios, para así poder gestionar ellos mismos esta moneda digital o criptomonedas. Para ello debe existir un registro global de los movimientos de estas criptomonedas, siendo esto lo que conocemos como una Blockchain.

Bitcoin: It is nothing more than one of the first digital currencies created by the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto and brought great innovations in the area of technology and social with a huge impact on our time. Providing a system based on P2P, without depending on a central entity or institution that oversees the transactions, being a system that operates at a decentralized level and in the hands of the users themselves. so they can manage themselves this digital currency or cryptocurrencies. For this there must be a global record of the movements of these cryptocurrencies, this being what we know as a Blockchain.

Legacy Bitcoin Network: Corresponde al primer formato de dirección desde que se creo el sistema original de Bitcoin y que aun se mantiene en funcionamiento gracias a algunas modificaciones. Esta a su vez proporciona un dirección para el uso de billeteras electrónicas, creadas desde el inicio de Bitcoin en el años 2009, sin embargo al ser una de las primeras presentaban algunas limitaciones como un mayor costo y tiempo al realizar transacciones en la blockchain.

Pudiendo realizar solo 2200 transacciones cada 10 minutos, aproximadamente 4 o 6 operaciones por minuto, lo que suponía un problema al existir cada vez más usuarios que realizaban transacciones, ralentizando en gran medida un sistema que debía ser inmediato y seguro. Afectando la maleabilidad (posibilidad de que un tercero modifique un código o serial a su preferencia, siendo como un ataque a la red) y escalabilidad de la blockchain( el número de transacciones realizadas por bloque).¹

Legacy Bitcoin Network: Corresponds to the first address format since the original Bitcoin system was created and is still in operation thanks to some modifications. This in turn provides an address for the use of electronic wallets, created since the beginning of Bitcoin in 2009, however, being one of the first, it had some limitations such as higher cost and time to perform transactions on the blockchain.

Being able to perform only 2200 transactions every 10 minutes, approximately 4 or 6 operations per minute, which was a problem as there were more and more users making transactions, greatly relaunching a system that should be immediate and secure. Affecting the malleability (possibility of a third party to modify a code or serial to their preference, being like an attack on the network) and scalability of the blockchain (the number of transactions per block).¹

Segwit Bitcoin Network: Es por ello que en 2017, surgen las Segwit, una segunda capa de seguridad para solventar las limitaciones anteriores. Siendo una modificación que se encarga de aligerar la información almacenada en las blockchain, separando o segregando las firmas criptograficas en otra estructura de bloques y dejando solo la información necesaria de la transacción. De esta forma se evitaba el problema maleabilidad y escalabilidad anterior, dificultando así el cambio de códigos por un tercero malintencionado y asegurando mayor numero de transacciones a menor tiempo y bajo costo.²

Segwit Bitcoin Network: This is why in 2017, Segwit emerged, a second layer of security to solve the previous limitations.Being a modification that is responsible for lightening the information stored in the blockchain, separating or segregating the cryptographic signatures in another block structure and leaving only the necessary information of the transaction. In this way the previous malleability and scalability problem was avoided, making it difficult for a malicious third party to change codes and ensuring a greater number of transactions at a lower time and cost.²

Ante este conocimiento mi respuesta es la siguiente:

A nivel personal considero más optimo el uso de la: Segwit Bitcoin Network

Siendo una mejora de las redes Legacy, considero que ofrece mayor protección contra ataques de terceros al impedir la maleabilidad de las transacciones, otorgando mayor privacidad a los usuarios. Igualmente garantiza mayor rapidez y menor costo al realizar las transacciones, tomando en cuenta que la capacidad de almacenamiento es mucho mayor, hasta el punto de llegar 4MB gracias a esta modificación. Estando en un mundo digitalizado donde la meta es facilitar un mejor servicio para el usuario, considero que estos puntos de la Segwit Bitcoin Network son muy importantes al momento de elegirla como mi preferida.

Given this knowledge, my answer is the following:

On a personal level I consider more optimal the use of the: Segwit Bitcoin Network,

Being an improvement of Legacy networks, I consider that it offers greater protection against attacks from third parties by preventing the malleability of transactions, providing greater privacy to users. It also guarantees greater speed and lower cost when carrying out transactions, taking into account that the storage capacity is much greater, to the point of reaching 4MB thanks to this modification. Being in a digitalized world where the goal is to provide a better service to the user, I consider that these points of the Segwit Bitcoin Network are very important when choosing it as my favorite.

Conclusión

Tanto Segwit Bitcoin Network o Legacy Bitcoin Network son funcionales en la actualidad, sin embargo y por sus grandes ventajas es recomendable utilizar la primera de estas y asi obtener mejores resultados tanto a nivel de seguridad, costos y rapidez de transacciones. Agradezco al profesor @gbenga por la explicación en sus articulo de este tema y por hacerlo de forma sencilla y practica, me llevo nuevos conocimientos en este mundo de criptomonedas.

Both Segwit Bitcoin Network or Legacy Bitcoin Network are currently functional, however, and for its great advantages it is advisable to use the first of these and thus obtain better results both in terms of security, costs and speed of transactions. I thank Professor @gbenga for the explanation in his article on this topic and for making it in a simple and practical way, I take new knowledge in this world of cryptocurrencies.
