So much I have been learning from this crypto courses that I have been learning from since it has started and I must say it has really be wonderful.

So in the last lesson I was opportunity to have by professor @gbenga which talk in his last lesson below.

So after the lesson,he gave us an assignment to work upon which was

Segwit Bitcoin Network or Legacy Bitcoin Network, which do you prefer and why?

Just as I always do, I will start with the introduction to each of them, what they mean and how they compare to each other before going further to state reason why I prefer one to each other.

Legacy Bitcoin Network

According to the explanation given to us by @gbenga in his last post, he said. It is the first and the original bitcoin network as of when bitcoin was created. Now imagine been the first bitcoin network, it will have certainly have somethings attached to it like:

(1). Having less features:

One thing I have noticed in the internet world is as the day advances in the internet, more features are upcoming causing applications to be updated from the previous version or limited version in features.

Same thing applies here, In the case of legacy less features, been the original bitcoin network, it will certainly have the less features compare to the latest bitcoin Network been used now which has passed through a stage of development and updating.

(2). is supported by all exchanges and wallets since it is the initial address to be created:

Just as @gbenga said in his lesson, same thing implies. Been the first bitcoin network, definitely it will be supported by all exchanges and wallets since it is the initial address to the created and since been the first and initial address, it is means to support all exchange sand wallets.

(3). Transactions are slower with the Legacy Bitcoin network:

Now back to the main attributes atta he'd do legacy network. Been the first bitcoin address and network, definitely it will be slower in transaction rating as it has not passed through a lot of development stage then and since it is in the Initial stage, you don't expect the transaction to be super fast as Initial bitcoin network means it is still in development stage and there is room for improvement.

(4). The addresses on this network can be identified as they start with "1"

Now one major thing also attached to this network is that all addresses on this legacy network have one thing in commons which is their addresses on this Network can be identified as they start with 1. Now look at the current hundreds of bitcoin address we have now. Some start with alphabet while some started with numbers but in the case of legacy network, the addresses all started with numbers and not only that, all of them start with 1.

Segwit Bitcoin Network

Now let's talk about the Segwit bitcoin network.

According to my research, Segwit first means the increase in blocks on the Blockchain by first removing something called the signal data on bitcoin transactions. This signal data we should be familiar with it.

According to the lesson given to us by professor @gbenga, it seems we have two sub types of Segwit BITCOIN network which is below;

(1). Nested Segwit Bitcoin Network

(2). Native Segwit Bitcoin Network

In as much as there is two types , there are still common features that make them distinguish from legacy BITCOIN network.

Now I will say Segwit bitcoin network is the just the opposite of the legacy network bitcoin but how do they compare to each other is what I will talked about below.

Features of Segwit BITCOIN network that differentiate it from legacy BITCOIN network.

(1). Allowing it to hold more transaction than legacy BITCOIN network:

This is obvious as they are capable of holding more transactions that the legacy Bitcoin Network. Just as how I said earlier that legacy Bitcoin Network is the initial bitcoin Network as of 2009 which indirectly means the first bitcoin network as of when created. Been the first bitcoin network, Definetely there will be some areas which it will be lacking and one of this area is where the Segwit BITCOIN network has over edge over the legacy BITCOIN network. It is capable of allowing and holding more transactions than the legacy Bitcoin Network.

(2). Lower Transaction fees:

Another area which the Segwit BITCOIN network top is the lower Transaction fee. It has lower Transaction rate and fee when compare to the legacy Bitcoin Network which was the initial BITCOIN network.

(3). Faster in the transaction speed than legacy Bitcoin Network'

One of the significant role the legacy BITCOIN network lacks behind is that their transaction speed is slow. At least slower than the Segwit BITCOIN network which mark the Segwit BITCOIN network to edge out in this aspect also much more comfortably.

The Segwit BITCOIN network is capable of processing Transaction at a higher speed much more than the legacy BITCOIN network which is super better

Which one I prefer?

Now to sum it up. I have been able to define the both and point out how the both compared. I will say I prefer the Segwit BITCOIN network

Why I prefer Segwit BITCOIN network

Just like I have been able to compare the both, there are some better side and reason which Segwit BITCOIN network process that made me attracted to it which I have just discuss above

(1). Allowing it to hold more transaction than legacy BITCOIN network:

(2). Lower Transaction fees:

(3). Faster in the transaction speed than legacy Bitcoin Network'

With this awesome three reasons which Segwit BITCOIN network process and has over as edge over the legacy BITCOIN network, definitely it is one of the best option to choose over the legacy BITCOIN network
