Greetings to the entire community of "SteemitCryptoAcademy", it is a pleasure to be sharing with all of you in this amazing academy based on all the tasks assigned by the teachers of the same. In this opportunity, I will perform the task of the teacher @yousafharoonkhan, which is exclusively about centralized and decentralized social networks, something very important that the whole community should know, since, most of our time we create content in one way or another in these.

Without further ado, I will start immediately with the teacher's assignment:

What are centralized and decentralized social networks?

Centralized social networks:

Centralized social networks, are a global communication media, which is managed and/or controlled by a company or private company, capable of making all the decisions inherent to each account that is created within its infrastructure. In short, these people, who work internally in this network, can do with the account of its users whatever they want, either delete content or even remove access to your account. At any time you can lose all your work created in many years, without even having the right to recover it, which represents a great risk for all of us who work creating content of any kind.

The support of these networks is controlled under a centralized node, with a specific location, so it represents a great risk, because, if you suffer serious physical damage, the entire platform can fall and consequently have millions in lost money and never re-enter the platform, at least until the company (Centralized) manages to resolve the damage. This type of platforms controlled by a third party, does not allow the free expression of people, they are very censored, so there are many topics of which we can not even comment, because you run the risk of losing the account and be deleted. I must emphasize that the most recognized centralized social networks worldwide are: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Decentralized social networks:

Decentralized social networks, are a form of communication and interaction with the public and our peers, very similar and identical to the centralized ones, however, decentralized social networks, are not part of a single owner, its nodes and network support, are not in one place, but, due to its consensus algorithm called "Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS)", there are more than 21 nodes that support the platform, so if they want to destroy it, Eben first eliminate all these in order to bring down the platform.

Now, decentralized social networks, allow all users in it to have freedom of expression, full control of our content and our personal information embodied in that platform. There is no censorship and we are completely free to create content according to our beliefs and experiences without any limits, we can implement and create our own brand according to our knowledge and / or work, in addition, we have total freedom to establish our business on the platform, without any fear that ever our content and information we publish will be deleted, which can never happen because once it is in the Blockchain and the block has been added to the chain, no one can modify any record. An interesting fact is that the first decentralized social network that the world saw the birth of is "Steemit", so there is no doubt that it is the largest of all worldwide.

Differences between centralized and decentralized social networks

line2.png

Centralized NetworksDecentralized Networks
They are controlled by a third party, which gives them the full right to remove any action that is against their policies. They are not controlled by a third party, any action we want to perform on this platform is allowed.
The contents and/or accounts are censored, we do not have total freedom to publish what we want. The contents and/or accounts are not censored, we can publish whatever we want according to our ideals.
There is no freedom of expressionWe have freedom of expression
They can absolutely block access to your accounts, as you do not have full control over it.No one can block access to your accounts, you have total control over them.
We have to comply with all the rules when setting up a business. When creating a business we have no rules to follow to establish it, we can do it according to our experiences and beliefs.
You can lose years of hard work building your account.Your work will never be lost, your growth will always be registered in the platform.
Being a centralized node it may be very vulnerable physically speaking, so the platform could be at risk of disappearing. As there are many nodes that support the platform, the risk that they can physically attack everyone is unlikely, so it is very difficult to disappear.

What is the future of social networks?

line2.png

Future of centralized networks

Social networks have a lot of future ahead of them; and by this I mean that both forms, centralized and decentralized, will grow very strongly. Now, I clearly prefer the "Decentralized", however, we must be realistic and is that millions of people in the world, use the centralized social networks and increasingly, new young people are joining new generations that naturally born to create content, this will only make social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik-Tok etc, continue to grow in the course of time. Centralized networks have forms of person-to-person communication, ways of doing business and applications that serve different purposes, which certainly makes them more user-friendly and enjoyable for the average audience.

Future of decentralized networks

On the other hand, we also have decentralized networks and these, like the centralized ones, have a very bright future and probably more successful than the centralized ones. In this sense, decentralization and cryptocurrencies are increasingly expanding in the world, it is a matter of time (I do not really know how long), for decentralization and cryptocurrencies to take control of the economy. You may wonder, where decentralized social networks enter here, because they have always been in the future, as it is a space free of all the corrupt and toxic that there is in the rulers and the big tycoons that control the centralized networks and major companies in the world. In decentralized networks there is freedom, only the person has control of their actions and no one else can control what we do or do not do, as happens in centralized networks that control us completely.

With all this I have said, there is still a lot of fabric to cut, Blockchain technology is expanding every second and decentralized social networks like Steemit, impart the necessary knowledge so that people can adapt to the new digital era, get the necessary knowledge about cryptocurrencies, about the technology and the protocols behind it and most importantly, the financial freedom that these can give us for doing what we love most in life, or what we are really good at and that we decide to share with other users within the network.

How are Steemit's decentralized social networks better than Twitter and Facebook?

line2.png

Steemit is better than Facebook and Twitter in many aspects, first of all, here in Steemit, anyone can create content for free and be rewarded for it, in short, by publishing based on what you like to do, you can earn money, it's as easy as that. This does not happen with Facebook or Twitter, of course you can create content for free, but this does not generate absolutely no profit, you are not rewarded for creating content on them and we also lose the most precious thing we have without receiving anything in return, which is our time.

In this sense, our time invested in Steemit will always be rewarded, every action we perform can mean that, for the value of what we contribute to the platform and the users who make life on it, has intrinsic money which we can use, this can be for our needs and / or most importantly, continue to invest in our growth on the platform. We can make a comment and this can have a comment value depending on the quality of the same, we can create a publication either audiovisual or written and if this has value and has in itself quality, we will earn money for this.

So Steemit means freedom, in many ways, something that the centralized ones do not have and it is for this reason that, spending our time on networks like Facebook, Twitter and others, are not worth it, because we can never be ourselves, because anything that violates the rules of this, mean that our account can be blocked at any time and even worse, lose all our work. It is for these reasons that I explain in this section that Steemit is much better than centralized networks.

How does Steemit's social networking change the lives of millions of users?

line2.png

Well, just naming the word decentralized sounds pretty good to many of us. Steemit is a place that offers you freedom, not only to create content without fear of being deleted or censored, but specifically "Financial Freedom". For example, I will talk about my own experience. In my native country there is a very difficult situation that has put our economy in the worst in the world, however, I have free access to networks like Steemit, which I can access from my home or any place of my choice, as long as I have a computer and internet. This allows me to create content and also generate practically a salary on the platform, which I can live off of and which is triple what I would earn in a traditional job in my country.

So, taking into account this abysmal difference in salaries and wages that Steemit has offered me, it has undoubtedly changed my life in many ways. I have been on the platform since 2017 and since then I have been constant, even if I could earn a lot at the beginning, since, it was really complicated, but today, I have learned many, many things and I am really grateful that this platform was born and came into my life. Based on this, I am sure that many of the users who read this post or even without reading it, are in the same position as me, surely Steemit is their livelihood, with what they earn doing what they do best, they can help their families and loved ones and this changes the life of any person and this has done Steemit for all of us.

How can we make money with Steemit's decentralized social networks?

line2.png

In order to make money with Steemit, there are many ways, but everything will depend on how good we are at creating good content, following some fundamental indications that will allow you to do things right and therefore bring good results. Although creating content is not the only way, I will describe below some of the best ways we can implement to be able to make money on Steemit.

Content creation:

Writing:

This is the most common way we can earn money on Steemit's decentralized networks. In this sense, we should only write about what we like the most, about the topic we want, make it as high quality as possible and free of plagiarism, it must be completely original and of your authorship in order to have the best chance of receiving rewards in your written publication.

Audiovisual:

This is the other way to create content on the platform, it is to record a video, where you can talk about one or more topics that are of interest to the community. If a good quality job is done with the recorded video, we can also access very good rewards on the platform.

Content curation:

This is the next way in which we can earn money on the platform, however, there are several aspects that we must take into account to be able to perform a good and successful task as a curator in order to obtain rewards.

Investment:

We by investing in Steem, we can go about earning profits by exercising a role on the platform that is called "Curator". Now, you may ask, why do we need investment, if we can have it for free? It is true, however, the more we can invest our own money in Steem Power, the faster and more money we will earn and if we add this to the creation of content, it becomes a very good source to earn money and replace our salary that comes from another job.

Delegations

This is another way to earn money on the platform. Many times we do not have the time to curate content as we would like, since it is a very hard work but it leaves very good rewards, however, we have many other tasks and we do not have time. Based on this, we get a project that performs cures that are in line with our beliefs and objectives, then we can delegate part of our power so that this project performs this action and gives us dividends, daily, weekly and / or monthly. Of course, there are projects with trajectory that perform this action, our task is to find these projects to be able to delegate our voting power in the right place.

Creating communities on Steemit's social networks - Step by Step

line2.png

To create a community on the Steemit platform is very simple, we just need to follow a few steps and we can have our own community ready to work on the platform and manage it the way you can help all your subscribers to grow along with the community account itself.

For this example, I will create a real community that I hope to manage very soon, so join me to see the step by step:

Step 1:

First we need to head to the Steemit homepage, where we commonly see the posts that are trending. Once there, we scroll down a bit using our mouse or phone, in order to find an option called "Show more tasks", almost at the bottom left of your screens. In the following images you will be able to appreciate how to correctly find the aforementioned option:

1 Bajamos.png

2 Dar click en mostrar mas.png

Step 2:

Once we find the option called "Show more topics", we click on it and it will direct us to another screen, where we will see a list of existing communities where we have the option to subscribe, however, we are interested only in the option called "Create a Community" in the upper right part of the screen. In the following image you can see the corresponding option.

3. Dar click en crear comunidad.png

Step 3:

Once we click on "Create a Community", this action will direct us directly to our SteemWallet, where we must fill in the following fields that I will show in the following image below, in order for our community to have a name and we can also describe what it is about. In the following image you will be able to observe, where to place this information.

4 Nombre de la comunidad y Descripción.png

Step 4:

Once we click on "Next", the platform will automatically show us our Owner Key and additionally the name or associated code of the community. For security in the image that I will place shortly, I will hide this information, but you must save it very well, since, without this we will not be able to access to our community account. Afterwards, fill in the corresponding box that says "I HAVE SECURELY SAVED MY OWNER NAME AND PASSWORD" and click on "CREATE COMMUNITY". Then the platform will show us the option that this operation will cost us 3 Steem, so we just click on "Ok" and proceed to accept all the confirmations of our Keychain.

5 Guardar contraseña y crear comunidad.png

6 Pagar los 3 Steem.png

Step 5:

Good morning, our community has been successfully created and is ready to subscribe. In the following image, see how I click on "Get Started", to go to my new community.

7 Get started y suscripcion en la comunidad.png

I have reached the end of this assignment, I am very happy to have participated in it, I learned a lot about social networks, both centralized and decentralized. It is very important to know all these concepts, since, it is up to us to educate and bring people to the true freedom that platforms like Steemit offer.
